MetaFilter should really stop following us around and imitating us. May 28, 2007 3:52 PM   Subscribe

Onlyconnect and I hosted a gathering yesterday evening starting around 6 pm eastern. Attendees included at least five Mefites. Topics dicussed at that party that have subsequently appeared on the front page through no action of our own include:
  • An extended discussion of "Freaks and Geeks"
  • The further creative output of Judd Apatow
  • Lesbian Until Graduation (LUG)
Look MetaFilter, despite the fact that I wore the new MetaFilter shirt that onlyconnect gave me (a decision driven by its festive coloring and roominess, since I was planning some serious eating), it's time to stop following us around and copying us.

OMG, I was talking to myself a few hours ago and I said "wouldn't it be weird if onlyconnect and NortonDC met and talked about stuff that made the front page"!

This thread is useless without pictures.

This is so meta, because I was just asking onlyconnect about the odds that soundofsuburbia...

I almost forgot: ColdChef came up by name, too. And I think that the LUG discussion was especially appreciated by my (conservative, slightly anxious) sister's kids.

I hate it when websites I read are relevant to my conversations in the real world.

Hmph. Until I see photos, this plate of beans sucks. And front page posts are vull and noid.

I would like to take this moment to acknowledge the sacrifices -- often the ultimate sacrifice -- made by our men in uniform. If not them, what is this holiday about?

I was at the party. Kool Aid pickles were consumed (and some left behind). Maybe they'll become the next kula?

Someone tell matt and jessamyn to reboot the cortex bot, please.

I'd like to point out that Dance around the World by Richenel was Hollands gift to the world.
It escaped our laboratories and has been infecting brains ever since.
Baud, there is no antidote.

terrapin, you totally stole my joke!

And without attribution, no less.

Or does that make it a meme?

Is it plagiarism if one has never read or seen the original?

I said that because we tease cortex on IRC as being a bot. Never saw your comment. Sorry!
