Meetups planned with over 30 days advance might need a little more time in the grey.

Although Gen didn't fall asleep this time - he may bail ;)

Would it be appropriate to extend the archive time limit, or suggest that meetups be planned within 30 days?

I've noticed a new convention developing over the past year or so where people say "BUMP!" at the beginning of a new post on the same topic here in MeTa. It mean's they're BUMP!ing the old topic to the top of the page again. Sometimes it's for the reason you bring up, sometimes it's just to get the prime real estate again. If it's a meetup update many times the new thread contains solidified info—a definite date, time, and location. So I suggest that instead of changing any of the standard rules you adopt this newfangled technique and post a new thread. In 4 days.

Poeple are welcome to post an update as the day draws nearer if the old MeTa thread is closed. There isn't relly a need to revisit the basic site functionality for this.

But while we are vaguely on the topic... while I was preparing a dossier on each of the attendees, I noticed that misozaki and I are the only girls.

Now do we need to put a pair of socks down our pants or organize some more girls?

It mean's they're BUMP!ing the old topic to the top of the page again.

It makes a lot more sense on forums where just making a comment to the thread moves it to the top.

If mathowie is still listening, what's the accepted protocol regarding meetups, esp. the Portland meetup where there is a limited amount of space? Need one RSVP? If one is a 20k member with a long history of lurking but a short history of actual posting, for example, say?
