Please Sidebar Asparagirl's post July 12, 2007 6:46 PM   Subscribe

Any chance that the mods could sidebar this post by Asparagirl? It was a fantastic post, with great clarity, structure, and purpose, as well as being critically important to most Americans.

??

This post, is it something I need to be an adult to understand?

I'm glad I'm too poor to even think about buying a house.

I recall mathowie mentioning recently that the standard metric for sidebarrification is the 'fantastic post' flag. Those who agree with SeizeTheDay should go get your flag on.

I thought that the 32 favorites were enough for critical mass.

I agree. This is one of the best posts I've ever seen on Metafilter. Its concise, informative, well-formatted, includes a wealth of interesting links, and also happens to address a topic of considerable importance. It deserves special mention on the sidebar, regardless of whether it wins the 'fantastic post' popularity contest or not.

If dirty bunny limericks, first-person narratives of mall-based reality shows, and free-fall brownies qualify for the exalted pantheon of the sidebar, I think this should too.

Aw heck, why not. It was pretty chock-full of good linkage and it's been a pretty lively thread.

I dunno. I've been following this as it's developed for 24 months or more, and there's a lot more and better information out there on the what why and how than the links Asparagirl provided. A couple of Wikipedia links, MSNBC, CNN and Bloomberg? There's a lot better analysis, deeper and ongoing, on some of the better housing blogs out there, definitely.

Informative post for people who aren't aware of the situation yet, but not quite 'fantastic', I reckon.

Still, you know, whatever. Sidebar away!

Sorry, wait, I missed the [more inside] post. That rounds it out pretty nicely, after all.

Reservations withdrawn.

I do not understand that other than revelation of a poorly-repressed urge to nibble on my breasts and thighs.

I'm flattered, but I'm not sure I know you well enough yet, m_c_d.

Good post? No thanks. The only thing a republican can do for Mefi is buy its records and shine its shoes.

Q: WHAT DO WE WANT?

A: NO SIDEBAR FOR CRYPTO-FASCISTS!

Q: AND WHEN DO WE WANT IT?

A: NOW

Did you hear that crowd?

No, but if you send everyone a copy of the CD you're listening to...

Asparagirl is definitely one of Metafilter's nicer denizens and her post is interesting — and certainly sidebar-worthy. I hope it gets there.

Yeah, it's pretty amazing. I wonder if a mod saw this thread?

Jesus H. Spock, cortex, you said "Aw, heck, why not" upthread and then just don't follow through? Some sort of power trip or something? "I'll say I will and then not and then I will sit back and revel in the mass confusion caused by my sick abuse of power!" That's fucked up.

you know, if you'd just take some time out of your rending and gnashing you could easily go and put that post on the sidebar.

Oh, the sidebar. I'd printed it out and nestled it in between the vodka and the Jager.
