Andrew Cooke! I figured he had stepped in front of a bus or been ambushed by a carnivorous lama or something. Tell him we said hi.

Sounds interesting. I was very surprised when I saw Chile in the meetup sidebar.

(hi larryc!) so, where are we going to meet? are we planning to eat? what kind of time?

i suggest 8pm onwards. my safe gringo choice is liguria in pedro de valdivia, but i assume signal knows somewhere much more cool....

(maybe 8 horribly horribly early - sorry)

Cool! Right! Like.... the Manuel Montt Liguria?

Dude, I'm 36. I can tell you what was cool 10 years ago. Nowadays? I just want someplace where the music isn't so loud you can't even hear yourself talk, let alone others.
I was actually thinking the Normandie (1/2 block down from M.Montt Liguria), which is like Liguria was 10 years ago, i.e.: not so damn loud.
8 o'clock sounds fine, lets confirm with dhruva.

i once left there so mad i didn't leave a tip, but perhaps it's got better (it's ok - i'd like to try it again and i'm hoping they've forgotten my face by now...). paulina will probably come along too.

8 is fine with me...but i´m staying in Londres, and hopefully I´ll find a map of the city that i can use to get to wherever this Normandie is. I guess it can´t be far, and maybe i´ll just have a channel to cross :)

it's easiest to take the metro (map showing metro stations with red diamonds) and head in the direction marked "los militares" (east). get off at the station "manuel montt" and leave via an exit marked "providencia". the restaurant is a little to the west (a block or so) (map with restaurant marked)

around 8pm the metro will still be very busy. if you like walking, you could just head east (libertador bernardo o'higgins (which people will refer to as "alameda") becomes providencia). it would take maybe an hour.

Cab should cost about CLP$1500 (USD$3.00), and you could get it lo leave you at the actual restaurant, if you wish.

(correction - "escuela militar" is the direction on the metro. sorry about that.)

I reckon I´ll walk . Just to reconfirm, the normandie, 8pm, and I´'ll be the indian (de India) guy speaking bad spanish. For the love of god, somebody please put a card or something saying MeFi, I've previously had the totally demoralising experience of asking random strangers if Metafilter meant anything to them...
