When posting to the blue, I'm told that "1 post has been tagged with one of your tags ( long list of_tags GoesHere ) within the past 24 hours." I think this feature would be more useful if it told you which tag(s) and post(s) it was referring to.

Agree.

That's not a bad idea. I'd say you could just click on each tag to see what the timestamps look like on the respective tag pages (in fact, I will: you can totally do that), but I can see how that'd be a bit cumbersome for a post that has a fifteen tags rather than two or three.

I was just thinking that same thing when I made my most recent post, East Manitoba Regional Junior Kabaddi Champion '94.

The only region I felt compelled to chime in here, though, is because I like saying "East Manitoba Regional Junior Kabaddi Champion '94."

No, seriously. Try it-- you'll see what I mean.

East Manitoba Regional Junior Kabaddi Champion '94 East Manitoba Regional Junior Kabaddi Champion '94 East Manitoba Regional Junior Kabaddi Champion '94

See?

Is that a Natalie Portman joke, Burhanistan? Or are you just happy to see me?

Solution: Click on the tag names, and you'll see those posts. In testing, when we displayed them inline, for popular tags it was too much and lead to a confusing page showing a bunch of other posts that were likely not related. I know it's pretty subtle, so maybe I'll make them bold and yellow now.

[On preview: Ignore me, please. I typed that without thinking, hit post, and now wish I had that feature where you go back in time five seconds and not hit post. Please continue sans Portman pseudo-humor, and thank you for not listening.]

Maybe only do it inline for unpopular tags.

I don't think it has to be in line per se. Right now you get this:
1 post has been tagged with one of your tags (icecream, banana, computer, relationship, furry, blue, cats, lol) within the past 24 hours.

It would be nice if the list idicated in some way which tag was the match. IE: If the matching tag was furry you'd get:
1 post has been tagged with one of your tags (icecream, banana, computer, relationship, furry, blue, cats, lol) within the past 24 hours.

I used em but of course the site code use a change in font or other indicators.

For that matter, we could only list the tags that match, perhaps.

Agreed that this is a good idea.

(icecream, banana, computer, relationship, furry, blue, cats, lol)

I want to read the post that has all these tags. Even better if it's an AskMe question.

I also want to say, East Manitoba Regional Junior Kabaddi Champion '94.

Agreed.

About saying East Manitoba Regional Junior Kabaddi Champion '94, I mean. The tag thing - sure, whatever.

Last time I posted, I was impressed with this tag check feature. The link-check also appears to be turbo-charged because it spit out a warning for my via link. Good stuff, it may help to cut down on dupes. Particularly with tags, because some posts that are the same subject don't necessarily have the same URL - eg, news items or a Google vs a YouTube video.

Lots of nice little site enhancements lately, kudos to the team, particularly mathowie and pb.

Brillo idea.

How about listing the title of the posts that used the tags? This might be enough to help prevent double posts, and might even encourage more variety (though that's usually only a problem when politics or disasters get out of hand).

of the /recent/ posts that used the tags; and include the struck-out titles of deleted posts as well to serve as the impaled invader atop the fortress pike.

to serve as the impaled invader atop the fortress pike

... that's pure poetry, fff - it belongs in the unwritten mefi epic.

So how good's yer Ronnie James Dio impression, Cortex?

We are the Knight Lords, protecting all the rubes
Posting to the blue that which we filter from the tubes
But heed the warnings! What the overlords dislike
Will be the foiled invaders stuck upon the fortress spikes

OH YEAH!
