SLO Meetup?

San Luis Obispo, CA Meetup in late September?

I'm heading back to the ol' hometown at the end of September, and I thought I'd see about a meetup. I'll have a 4-year-old in tow, so I'm thinking coffee in the afternoon on Saturday Sept. 23rd. I know you're out there, SLO MeFites.

My personal preference would be for coffee at Linnaea's Café on Garden Street, but it's been years since I was last in the area so I'd be open to meeting somewhere else.

dersins, it's obvious you have never been more than a day-tourist around here. We real SLO-vians would never meet -up at the Madonna Inn; however, after a few cups of coffee elsewhere, we will all head over here.

Huh. My uncle and his life partner just moved there. Saw some gorgeous photos but haven't been able to make the trip myself. Have a great time, and take lots of pictures!

The Madonna Inn used to have some of the best pasteries in the county, and may still. But everything about the Madonna Inn, from that gawdawful pink-and-gold color scheme to Alex Madonna's politics, is ugly.

Yeah, I know. I have family ties to the Madonnas; a good portion of my relatives attended his funeral. I try very hard not to say anything too pointed about him. But his shadow, last I checked, still looms large over city and county politics.

And the stretch of Hwy 101 going north from the Inn to Atascadero has been christened "The Alex Madonna Memorial Chunk of Freeway". But we still have Ernie Dalidio carrying on.

OK, so here's my schedule, as far as I know at this point. I'll be at Linnaea's Café at 2pm on Sat afternoon, barring freak accidents. If a couple hours in one direction or another would work for the rest of you, let me know. Otherwise I hope to see you there!

I am so sorry so sorry so sorry so sorry... I missed the meet-up, but Murphy's Law has been ruling my life for the last 24 hours... breakdowns of both my computers as well as my car (fortunately only the former 'crashed'), an allergic reaction to something I ate last night, a knee so swollen for-no-known-reason I can hardly walk, plus a bad hair day and a wardrobe malfunction (okay the last two weren't important). Next year, lekvar, I promise.

No problem, it ended well. hortense showed up and we had a nice time, even if I and my peers were directly responsible for his not being allowed to smoke in the patio. I think he forgave me.

Sorry I missed you ludwig-van but I was camping in Big Sur all week,I hope the show went well ! Yes lekvar, you are forgiven, except for the bars on the window ledges of the Maino Bldg. so maybe next year.
