There is no IHOP in Vermont. Also, it's like 7:15 here. Where were you this morning, I could have planned an outing! posted by jessamyn at 4:13 PM on February 12
Well, that settles dinner plans. posted by eyeballkid at 4:15 PM on February 12
Thanks. I was successful in hiding this from someone all day, and here you've gone and blown it. posted by Item at 4:18 PM on February 12
We should all hang our heads in shame. It's a sad day when the international metafilter holiday isn't even pointed out until it's three-quarters over. posted by Dave Faris at 4:19 PM on February 12

Sorry Jess, I was at work then - and while I normally spend all day screwing around on the internets at work, today I actually had work to do so I missed the morning post.
Why would an "International" House of Pancakes hold a "National" Pancake Day? Why is it held exactly a week after Shrove Tuesday, the day known in the civilized nations the world over as "Pancake Day"? posted by nowonmai at 4:55 PM on February 12
For fears of it being eclipsed by Super Tuesday. posted by sourwookie at 5:04 PM on February 12

Is there anything more delightful than being 19, drinking a six of Henry Weinhard's, then heading over to IHOP for "Pigs In Blankets"?
Well, yeah-- lots of things.
But now I am old and it was good then. posted by Dizzy at 5:25 PM on February 12
I didn't think food got worse than Denny's until I had IHOP. posted by loquacious at 6:20 PM on February 12 [1 favorite]
Why would an "International" House of Pancakes hold a "National" Pancake Day?
Same sort of reason as they have a "World" Series with only American teams? posted by Infinite Jest at 6:51 PM on February 12
...and if last week was Super Tuesday, why the heck couldn't today be Bat Tuesday? posted by wendell at 7:25 PM on February 12 [1 favorite]
There was a guy who had a friend whose cousin's mom's hairdresser was dating a meth dealer of one of the dishwashers at IHOP who found out that the mix for their pancakes is collected from the ashtrays, pocket lint bought in bulk from homeless people, ground up paint from recalled Chinese made toys, and sweetened with a magical invocation from the grotesque waitress who stands over the mix and calls it "sugah" in the same tone she asks if you want more coffee, sugah. Only to be consumed between 3-6AM. posted by Burhanistan at 7:34 PM on February 12
I used to work third shift at a Steak n Shake. A couple of times a week when I would get off work I would walk next door to IHOP and have pancakes. That was twenty years ago. I still get nauseous from the smell of both places. posted by Sailormom at 7:55 PM on February 12
As a dedicated lover of all things Steak 'n' Shake, I thank you for your sacrifice.
America thanks you for your sacrifice. posted by middleclasstool at 8:51 PM on February 12
Aw, dammit. Now you tell me. :(

Today was like super Tuesday II here in the mid-Atlantic. Or as it has now been officially renamed, Obamaland. Pancakes will bring us all together. posted by Tehanu at 8:53 PM on February 12

Well, one Canadian team, anyway, since the Expos moved to DC to become the Nationals. posted by cerebus19 at 6:58 AM on February 13
