Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But it doesn't matter with me now. Because I've been to the mountaintop. And I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Goat.

But what about those golden eagles? I, for one, am fearing them!
posted by soundofsuburbia at 9:28 AM on April 17, 2008

Those eagles are fucking scary. I mean seriously, you're some happy goat hanging about on a mountaintop--as you do--maybe chewing on something. Perhaps you're thinking about headbutting something later, or pondering a hop over to that crag where the nannies all hang out.

And then kerblam, several pounds of feathered death come divebombing out of the sky.

It's all very Pratchett...ian. Esque. Something.

When I saw those, I started looking for pages about taxidermists who specialize in goats so I could make a "mounting goats" post.

Don't ever google "mounting goats" if you're easily offended.

Which is funny, because I went googling in the opposite direction and was also kind of disappointed.

I'm kind of an idiot in the head in a way that makes me like theme posting even though it's kind of dumb and often just leads to shitty excuses for FPPs. quonsar's third post was pretty iffy but the aforementioned head sickness wouldn't quite let me delete it, and I was relieved that people had the good sense to just sort of let it die as a little trio after that, because it was gonna have to be deletionville for any crappy followups and I hate having to grapple with that kind of internal conflict in mid-afternoon.

Yeah, we noticed it last night, and figured it must be International Mountain Goat/Alpine Stuff Day. Or something.

Also, golden eagles are not dicks. They are Aquila chrysaetos. Taxonomy's tough, but in this case, it's clear that dicks and eagles are two completely separate things.

my broken house behind me and good things ahead,
a guy named mathowie wants a little of my time.
six cylinders underneath the hood crashing and kicking,
ahhh listen to the server whine.

I am going to make it through this year if it kills me.
I am going to make it through this year if it kills me.

I played flash games in a drunken haze
I was seventeen years young.
hurt my knuckles punching the machines
the taste of scotch rich on my tongue.

And then cortex showed up, and we hung out
trading swigs from the bottle all bitter and clean
locking eyes, holding hands
twin high-maintenance machines!

I am going to make it through this year if it kills me.

My wife keeps telling me that wants to get goats. I keep worrying that I will come home and find myself eye-to-scary-square-pupiled-eye with one of the little buggers calmly standing on the kitchen counter top, eating the phone book.

But since she wants to get fainting goats, I figure I'll just clap my hands really loud and when it falls over, I'll rescue the yellow-pages.

A couple of months ago, there were two consecutive AskMe posts about New York. The first one was, "Help me figure out how to move to New York," and the next one was, "Help me get out of the city for good." I was too lazy to make a Meta post for it, but I love shit like that.

Pity I can't think of anything like that.

Well, October 8th is also International Cephalopod Awareness Day, but there wasn't a string of FPPs about them or anything.

Now, I'm not saying that we should make a string of cephalopod FPPs that day or anything, but it is about being aware of cephalopods. I mean, elephants are really smart and cool and stuff, but I would hate to see them get all the glory while the cephalopods languish in obscurity, all sad and forgotten, sitting around in their little party hats wondering why nobody showed up.
