Anyone going to CMWC2008? May 24, 2008 9:29 AM   Subscribe

Any MeFites coming to Toronto for the Cycle Messenger World Championships in June? I'm trying to get time off to attend and am wondering if anyone else'll be there.

Skids
Another fan-favourite fixed-gear event. Competitors sprint to high speed, then lock their rear wheel to see how far they can skid. (The world record is over 500 feet!)

So, I guess it still qualifies as a skid even after the rear tire has been shredded and you are running on bare rim?

Madison's sending a bike polo team, but unfortunately I'm not able to tag along. Please say hi if you see them!

Yes, bonus points there.

I'm already here, and I was thinking about checking it out, but I can't figure out from the website if it's free for spectators. If I go it'd be nice to know one other person going, at least...

It's free. It was fun to watch when it was held here a few years ago, worth the trip.

It is so indescribably awesome that this event exists. I wish I lived near Toronto.

jeezus christ!

Has anyone else registered in the online store? I almost died!

the jersey price is pretty good, i've seen jerseys lately for $200 or more, 75 bucks for a badass mesenger jersey is alright and they probably dont have too many, louis garneau is not cheap to buy wholesale
