Skids
Another fan-favourite fixed-gear event. Competitors sprint to high speed, then lock their rear wheel to see how far they can skid. (The world record is over 500 feet!)
So, I guess it still qualifies as a skid even after the rear tire has been shredded and you are running on bare rim? posted by Chuckles at 3:12 AM on May 25, 2008
Madison's sending a bike polo team, but unfortunately I'm not able to tag along. Please say hi if you see them! posted by rocketman at 10:04 AM on May 25, 2008

I'm already here, and I was thinking about checking it out, but I can't figure out from the website if it's free for spectators. If I go it'd be nice to know one other person going, at least... posted by mendel at 7:53 PM on May 25, 2008
It's free. It was fun to watch when it was held here a few years ago, worth the trip. posted by fixedgear at 6:05 AM on May 26, 2008
It is so indescribably awesome that this event exists. I wish I lived near Toronto. posted by goatdog at 11:31 AM on May 26, 2008

jeezus christ!
Has anyone else registered in the online store? I almost died!
the jersey price is pretty good, i've seen jerseys lately for $200 or more, 75 bucks for a badass mesenger jersey is alright and they probably dont have too many, louis garneau is not cheap to buy wholesale posted by SlowLow at 4:38 PM on May 28, 2008
