A Dude's Perspective... impressive taste in bike related objects!
All the "dude" parts were added after I submitted a bunch of stuff I liked, which does seem slightly weird because I never really thought etsy was women-only.

in all seriousness, I love that bag and am now resisting my inner consumer

Awesome, Cold Chef, you just saved me an AskMe I meant to post earlier this week.
Does anyone recognize the song playing at the end of that NPR piece? The one that features the word 'dude' pretty prominently, and is in a style I'd just go ahead and call Dylanesque if I weren't afraid the answer will turn out to be late-period Monkees or something and I'll get laughed off MeFi?

Etsy is women-mostly at least. So you're racing bikes now? Awesome! What kind of racing? Come to Philly sometime and I'll take you to the T-town velodrome. Come to Philly June 8 and I'll take you to this amazing event.

Always got the impression that Etsy was for crocheted hemp dreadlock sheaths and hand-tooled tofu gewgaws for your shrine to Gaia, for some reason. I stand corrected - defo some nice stuff available.
Still, not sure I'm willing to buy from a website that uses the word 'dude' in an official capacity.

The song right at the end is a cover of the Stones' "Dead Flowers," and it sure sounds like Townes Van Zandt singing it, but I'm not sure about that.

I suggest this quote from the NPR page should replace the "everyone needs a hug" here in Metatalk.
So the next time you start to feel anxious, aggressive, uptight or judgmental, just remember the Dude — and remember there's a little bit of him in all of us.

Yes, it is Townes Van Zandt, from his Road Songs CD.
Which also has a killer version of Racing In The Streets on it:
Some guys they just give up living
And start dying little by little piece by piece
Some guys come home from work and wash up
Then go racin in the street...
(Tho not on bicycles, I bet.)

(Fellini and Duchamp? Pretty cultured crowd we get around here...)
I guess calling Townes Van Zandt "Dylanesque" wasn't too bad. Uh, unless Steve Earle heard me say it.

I just love that Matt is now getting phone calls from random websites to tell them what things he'd like to buy, and that he then gets featured on these websites as an "internet celebrity" and presented with all these cool consumer goods, because we knew Matt from way back when, and we still know him now, and we realize how silly it all is because he's still the same decent, cool guy we knew back then.
And by "love", I of course mean hate with the burning searing jealous passion of a thousand - no, a million - scorching yellow suns.

if it makes you feel any better yhbc, they didn't send me anything for free at all. I just met someone from etsy and gushed about how much I liked the site and they said hey we want to feature your picks, so I looked at my purchase and search histories and basically came up with a list. I still can't believe I spent two hundred bucks on a laptop bag, but it really is the coolest thing I own.
