London meetup, Saturday 26th July?

Specklet and I were wondering if anyone in London fancied a meetup on the 26th of July? Somewhere not too far out of the way would be good so maximum chatting-before-running-for-the-last-train happens.

Yes, yes, I got the date wrong. I mailed a mod to try and get June changed to July, so we'll see what happens. Also: yay!

I'll be in London for 9 days starting the evening of July 27. Any chance you can change the date?

Yah, Mrs Mutant & I would be up for it, providing the premises doesn't impose any dress code at all. And is somewhat sleazy. Or at least offers pretensions of sleaze. Oh! Music has to be of a sensible volume, 'cause we find repeatedly shouting "QUE?" seriously causes our enthusiasm for conversation to mitigate. Rapidly.

To compensate for these totally unreasonable demands, I shall make another Carrot Cake. This time around I think I can even do the Metafilter letters, in the appropriate colours no less but try as I might, the proper font still escapes me.

We're also flexible on the date so if we can change to accommodate lukemeister its all good.

btw, i can only do the 26th - I'm on late-shifts for a week after that. Not that you should let that stop you re-arranging so that lukemeister can come, just a data point...

Agreed. Were you thinking somewhere around Spitafields or somewhere else? Lots of activity and noise in the vicinity of Vibe Bar, especially on a Saturday. Could sit outside to eat and drink, assuming the weather holds up. And if folks aren't into that Brick Lane restaurants are close by.

But wait - have we agreed the date yet?

Best for it not to be the Vibe Bar, it's already cursed as the scene of one dramatically failed meetup.

Wow. Both plep and louigi are among the mefites I'd most like to meet...Damn!

Regarding this meetup, its been my experience (from SF meetups) that no time is ever good for everybody. The only solution is to have more frequent meetups and let people attend when they can...

Not the 26th! Well, okay if the 26th and another day too. I think we should consider a picnic in a park, possibly Hyde or Regents, before any hope we may have had for a summer is completely dashed. How's the 9th of August for people?

I take it there won't be a meetup in the next week? If so, I'll miss the picnic, unfortunately, but I'm sure there will be another time.
