Is there a flash-less way to download and/or listen to songs on Metafilter Music?

I just bought an ipod touch, and would love to fully access the now 56% awesomer Metafilter Music site. Is there some really obvious way to do this without flash that I'm overlooking?

There is a small link to download the mp3 directly when logged in. It should even play on a iPod/iPhone.

Thanks! There isn't any way to do it on the main music page, though, is there?

Nice post title, umbú.

Keep in mind, though, that Woody Guthrie's guitar didn't just fight, it killed.

I can understand why you might have wanted to tone down the rhetoric a little, though.

He also referred to it as a "machine" instead of a "guitar". I say we take away the mp3 link as punishment for misquoting.

If you want my machine guitar mp3 link you'll have to pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

In all fairness, the only gun that ever really killed fascists was the 1938 Colt V-Neck, which was issued to the Fighting Hillbilly Hellcats of the 43rd just before the Battle of the Leaping Windmill, and decisively turned the tide of the battle against the monsters of the SS Rockwaffen.

Oh, yeah, that's right, AZ. I seem to recall you wrote a song about that.

Could you setup a podcast feed of songs? What about a single page with direct links to all the mp3s?

There is a podcast feed that includes every song. Every playlist also has a podcast feed. You could subscribe to any of the feeds in iTunes on your computer, and sync that podcast with your iPod.

View source?

(there's a couple of scrapers on my profile page, but I'm not posting them here because they'll break...)

Flash anywhere is a threat to download links everywhere.

My guitar fights staying in tune.

And barre chords. My guitar fucking detests barre chords.

My guitar fucking detests barre chords.

Push harder, girly-fingers. Think "My index finger is a goddam Shubb! No string shall pass!"

With a little practice and a big left bicep, you can bend the fucker into tune. String up with some fencing wire and we're good for monster tone.*

*Limited liability only for this terrible advice.

Centi-Pony: m3u? Some of us do the mpc/mpd dance.

I added m3u support, but I had to send it back to 2001 where it would be useful. I kid. Here's the Music RSS feed as M3U, but I don't have any way to test it handy. Let me know if this is what you need.

mpd seems to want m3us that are unix-text formatted and url-encoded (%20 instead of spaces). Not sure if that's standard, or if it's because it's old and crotchety. I don't know if it's worth your time, to be honest. I could just write something myself to munge the RSS.

It's no big deal. I updated the script to URL-encode the filenames.

But yeah, if your program is picky you might want to write a RSS to M3U conversion script.
