Portland, Maine meetup?

Time for another Portland, Maine meetup?

I've never been to a MeFi meetup before, but I've sort of been in the mood. How many of us Portlanders are on here, anyway?

Unofficial / low-key / low-numbers is okay. An official / large meetup is welcome, too, but I get a sense from the last few that Mainers are far a few between on this site.

There was just a Portland meetup in July, and I think a York Harbor "at the beech / skeeball" one in August.

There are a bunch of us (maybe 20-ish) in Southern Maine, though, so it could happen.

I'd love to attend, but I'm pretty busy this month. Could do something early October, though. Portland is a delightful place.

Saaaay, my band will be in Portland on October 2, playing at Space. We could have some music followed by a beatdown [not sure who will be receiving a beatdown].

I just moved here, and I'd love to attend a meetup. I've been here for about a month, and I love the city so far. I've been lurking mefi for years, and its pretty sweet, too. (first comment)

Yes, Portland is wonderful. I guess we are at least in agreement on that one.

I guess I might suggest Oct. 2nd, since otolith will be in town that night. The date really doesn't matter to me one way or another.

What do people think about that? It's a Thursday night - still a work night but at least it is near the end of the week (who can't struggle through a Friday every once in awhile?).

An Oct. 2 music meetup looks good. We've had a number of great Portland, ME, meetups and there's a good MeFite community in this neck of the woods. I'd try to make it - school night and all, but I can definitely try. Any excuse to go to Portland!

Oct 2nd. should work fine for me. I guess we can say it's a go.. Perhaps a few drinks at the White Heart across the street, and then over to Space for the show? It's a shame the patio will be closed down by then.

Oh noes, we just discovered a conflict. Call me a political nerdgeek if you will - but October 2 is the night of the VP debate showdown between Biden and Palin. I've already promised some friends we'd host the watching with popcorn and champagne - we just didn't know the date until tonight. Sigh.

Oh noes indeed. As a native son of Alaska, I probably have a certain responsibility to watch Ms. Sarah make us all look like idiots. Ah well, the show must go on....and it will be a good one, I promise! Actually, for anyone who is planning to come listen to the music, send me a me-mail and I'll see if I can put folks on the guest list (metafilter membership has many perks). Also, someone should sidebar this little puppy.

Sarah Palin be damned, we had a mefi meetup of two! Well, four, counting bzbb's roommates. Music was enjoyed, beer was drunk, brisk autumn wind was shivered in, many topics were discussed, it was a meetup for the ages. I may actually have a photo or two to be posted soon-ish. Thanks, Portland! Hope to see more of you next time!
