Paris Meetup? Ouais? September 16, 2008 2:51 PM   Subscribe

Paris Meetup, les amis? Ki a 1 plan teuf?

I just moved (back) to Paris a couple of weeks ago and want to reach out and touch (so to speak) my fellow MeFites in Paris. Who's interested? If you're hot for MeFi-Paris, here's some questions:
  • Weekday evening or weekend evening?
  • Apéro (18h), dîner (20h) or bar (22h)?
  • Based on your preferred time, any locations in particular that you want to suggest?
  • What's up with the pantalons turques craze these days?

Here's my answers, by the way:
  • I do most of my research-related stuff after midnight on weekends, so weekday at any time is good, or weekend before midnight works as well.
  • See above. Any time on weekdays, something before midnight on weekends
  • I've got a lot of suggestions, but I'm waiting to see what awesome new places y'all have to suggest.
  • I don't f!@#ing know. They're wretchedly unflattering, and most of them are made of cheap broadcloth or jersey-knit cotton. C'mon, Paris, you're disappointing me.

I think it's important to mention that the first result for a google search of "pantalons turques" is this thread.

My girlfriend and I just moved to Paris and would be down for this. Seeing as we don't even have jobs yet, we're free at most hours of the day. Unfortunately we are gone for Oktoberfest this weekend and then are back in Canada from Sept 28 to Oct 18. If it's outside that time we'll be there.

Hey DDD, how about mid-week next week? Like Wednesday?

Blue Beetle: I think it's important to mention that the first result for a google search of "pantalons turques" is this thread.

1. Yes, I think the proper spelling is pantalons turcs, now that I think about it.

2. I'd like to point out that the top AskMeFi tags in your profile are as follows: Canada (4) Music (3) Stink (3) Stumped. Was there a CanCon-related question on AskMeFi recently?

Hey LMGM, next Wednesday is cool with us. I'll let you pick the venue since we're Paris newbies. We're in the 18th but have no problem traveling.

OK, how about an apéro at around 18h00 somewhere? I'm about to move to the 11th, near Parmentier, and there's a whole host of little bars I want to check out. There's this café on rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud that I've been meaning to check out, but i can't remember the name. I'll double check the name when I'm in the neighborhood on Sunday at post it here.

Wheee!

OK, how about Wednesday night, around 18h00, at a café called l'Autre Café? It's right near métro Parmentier (line 3), at the corner of rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud and rue Edouard Lockroy. The street address is 62, rue Jean Pierre Timbaud, 75011 and here's a googlemap of the location.

I'm thinking we can get an apéritif, and if we feel like it they serve food there as well.

Sounds good. We'll see you there :)

w00t! it's on. The café's a bit big, but I should be easy to spot. I'll have a pastel-rainbow scarf with me. For realz.

Fun times, y'all! For those who didn't make it, we also headed to Le Marsangy (also near Parmentier) for dinner, which was lovely.

à la prochaine!

Ah ouais, on s'est planté un peu sur les photos. I'll remember to bring my camera and perhaps some amusing props for the next outing.
