Can the next podcast have a 'Meet the Mods' segment, so we can finally learn what pb and vacapinta sound like?
pb sounds like KITT. Vacapinta sounds like fresh dew on a lovely spring morning.

You only clean once a month? I don't know whether to be repulsed or turned on.

Really, you will have to figure that one out on your own.

Another quibble? Matt, you can't buy dick for $5 at Radio Shack anymore. That place is ridiculous.
AWESOME reading, TryTheTilapia!

I remember buying dick at Radio Shack for $5. Even back when they were a dick store, they still had that weird section of wires in the back.

Heh, I was actually talking about this one, which is the same thing but more elegant looking and doesn't mention the bike.

Or he might listen to Rupert Holmes' "Escape" (the Pina Colada song).

The best part of this was listening to Jessamyn trying to approximate Rossini with Wagner's The Valkyries and the Dudley-Do-Right theme :)

I really liked the comment reading at the end. It's like Metafilter come alive!
I looked at the elitist picture, and listening to everyone talk, I would have thought he had 10 Mercedes or something, but there's only that one Lexus. He has a 2001 Honda sedan and a Jeep Wrangler and a Prius. The McCain's just seem like people that never sell their old cars. Maybe, they let their kids' drive them; that's what my parents did with their old cars. The plane does seem like a bit much though -- and all those houses!

They own 10 cars, almost all of them less than 8 years old (not to mention the 3 GEM vehicles)! My parents are actual people who never sell their old cars (or, only when they really have to) -- and they've owned about half that total number of cars over the last 30 years or so.

Tajikistan is the home of my excellent woman!
Jessamyn: "Kyrgyzstan" doesn't have a "dz" sound, it is a hard g. The first two vowels are not even schwas, you just kind of swallow them. Take the last syllable of "maker" or "faker" - that's the first syllable of "Kyrgyzstan".

"So why don't you, like, give people some back story, if God forbid, they've missed it?"
mathowie:
"I know, yeah, uh, so what's. So we get this dumb, uh, Vice Presidential, uh..., nominee. Nominee? Uh-at, He picked her.
jessamyn:
"He picked her. Or somebody picked her."
Nice.

The ums and yeahs and stuff are me stammering to try and explain the Palin pick to someone as if they hadn't heard the news which was kind of a hard thing to imagine since it was the biggest story for weeks when we recorded the show.
It's like a friend asking you to explain the US election to someone that has never heard of either candidate, in 30 seconds, with no prep. It's not easy.
