Meetup: Western Connecticut and thereabouts October 14, 2008 3:52 PM Subscribe
Western Connecticut (Danbury/Newtown) meetup
I'm traveling to Connecticut for a few days and will have some free time Wed - Sun. Anyone want to get together? I'll be near Danbury and Hartford and would like to get toghther with MeFI members for lunch or coffee.
If you'd like to get together, post here or send me a note and let me know where you are in the area. We'll try to triangulate on a location that works for a group.

Doh! I'd be in but my availability turns back into a pumpkin on Friday.

Thursday afternoon might work. I'll be near Danbury/New Milford that day.

I can't make it to one this week (have fun, you others!), but I would like to schedule another CT meetup sometime in the future. Keep it in mind, Nutmeggers.

I have to be the lame guy who can't make Fridays. Sat/Sun could work near the New Haven area but I think we're trying to avoid driving much this weekend.

Man I lived in Danbury, the gateway to Brewster, until I was 17. Represent! It's just not the same with that giant frikkin' mall instead of the fair, though, which I am barely old enough to remember.

Oh man, I miss the fair so much. It was such a special place for a kid. I loved the clydesdale horses, the race track, even the vacuum cleaner demonstrations!
I remember when they auctioned off everything after the fair closed - my across-the-street neighbor picked up a bunch of stuff. I am still sad that it's gone.

If you come up with a time and location, I should be able to make it. I'm just south of Waterbury so pretty much anywhere from Danbury to New Haven to Hartford is equally convenient/inconvenient.

I can do daytime-ish New Haven area (I can travel more the earlier it is - I think there's some crappy party I'm supposed to be at at some point) on Saturday.
Reptile lives with me and I can usually drag him to things; his sister's on here too, but I don't know her username.
adamsc, you're not lame; as the only non-breeder at work, I get last pick of days off, so I have to plan anything I'm doing at least a month in advance.

Just arrived in CT. I have to take care of some business, but will know my schedule better in a day. What about a Saturday mid-morning or mid-afternoon gettogether? If you have a favorite diner or cafe in the New Milford - New Haven axis, please post it. I'll spend some time on Yelp tonight and see if I can come up with some places too.

I think I'm around this weekend, but it'll depend on the final date & time. New Haven works best for me.
Some ideas for New Haven locations: Lena's (in Westville), Scoop This (Woodbridge) or Koffee on Orange (Ninth Square area). If people want to meet closer to Danbury, I'm not much help with suggestions, so everyone should feel free to jump in with other ideas.

Ooh. If people really were meeting at Koffee or near there mid-morning or early evening, I could stop in. But that's pretty picky, so don't figure me in unless it happens to be good for others.

Selfish me would looove to do Koffee on Orange because I can ride my bike there. Would tennish be ok with people? It should be early enough that one can find parking there, too.

Oh cool! I'll do my best to stop by and might drag along my visiting sister. Look for a red-and-black checked skirt.

Can we post this as an official, side-bar meetup?
FYI: There are two Koffees. Koffee on Audobon is NOT Koffee on Orange. Koffee on Orange is on Orange St.

I'll try to make Koffee — this would be an easy stop on the way to the Wooster Sq. farmers' market.

Dilemma: Koffee vs Koffee on Orange. I don't know darn-diddley-arn about one vs the other, but since Koffee on Orange was the first one mentioned, let's go with it.
If it sucks-diddly-ucks, we can post unkind reviews about it on Yelp.
I'll post the official meetup announcement now.
See you there. I'll be the guy who looks like he just came in from San Francisco: yellow messenger bag, black shirt and pants, evil Spock goatee.

My three photos. I would have had them up sooner, but I had to adjust the contrast on the almost-a-group-shot.

Thank you all for hanging out with me. It was great to meet you in this thing they call the real world. I'll see if I can post some pics later this evening.

It was great to meet you too! (All of you!)
I'm sorry I had to cut out early, but it was well-timed--I arrived at my cousin's rugby game just in time to see him execute a fabulously awkward flying tackle that nearly gave him a concussion. Hope the rest of the meetup was equally exciting!
