I'm all the way up in Evanston. I can get downtown in about 20 minutes, then it's just finding parking. I actually went to the (October?) meet, but didn't get there until about 10 (my fault, I hemmed and hawed about going and finally hit the road a little after 9:30 when miss nax got tired of my whining and kicked me out the door); I think I just missed everyone, so I hate to risk it again.
Any way to check before I head downtown? Call the Billy Goat and have them make a general announcement-- (Bartender at top of voice: NAX IS ON HER WAY. MEFITES STAY PUT!)

I feel your pain, nax. I work up in Northbrook, but live in Evanston, and even though I get out during normal business hours, given the choice between driving (not a particularly good idea, given that I like drinking when I go to bars) and the hour-long Purple+Red trip, it's tough to get myself out the door.

By the way, there's no reason people can't propose an Evanston or west suburbs meetup for some other date and time. We've just settled on Wednesdays at Billy Goat as we know there's a core contingent that can make it, and the last few attempts to vary the place and time have resulted in fewer attendees, not more.
