1234567890 observation in Denver, 2/13 starting 4:00pm at The Broker
As UNIX geeks are probably aware, the UNIX second will hit 1234567890 tomorrow, Fri Feb 13 16:31:30 2009 MST. I'll be observing this temporal transition snug in my bunker at The Broker, 821 17th Street, where happy hour starts at a very civilized 2:30pm, and $4 martinis are on offer (with whatever vodka or gin you like, Grey Goose, Absolut Pepar, etc.). Come on by and share in our delivery of the official salute, which consists of inserting the index finger in the mouth, expelling it with a popping sound, then twirling it in the air in a circular motion of celebratory reverence. If enough people deliver the salute at the celebratory second, it'll sound like champagne bubbles or something.

Hmmm... that's 4 blocks from the office so I may show up later on in spite of the lack of 90 shilling. I have tentative plans for a second happy hour downtown though so may not be able to totter the few blocks. If not, enjoy!

Nothing about it on WWV, but the numbers stations just can't get enough.

@yodelingisfun - Of course! UNIX isn't anything like scientology. We just look like a cult. Hey, can I interest you in a free download?

I'm heading over. Look for a table with a small 1234567890 sign on it.

It's a little-known fact that Kool wrote the original version of the awk utility.

That would make Aho and Weinberger = "the gang"?
