SF Meetup

San Francisco meetup, anyone?

I'll be in SF for a conference and would love to attend a meetup while I'm there. I'm thinking Thursday, March 19, but Friday's fine if that works better for people.

Also, I know nothing about San Francisco or organizing meetups, so I'm hoping someone could help out....

Well, we do love our meetups!

I'm the local mefite who chimes in early with declarations of love of meetups but never proposes where to have them. I suck at that part.

The Thursday works better for me.

Hell yeah! I'll do Thursday or Friday. Cafe Rev's not bad on a Thursday, but anywhere in the Mission is gonna be packed on Friday.

I would have to come up from San Jose, but I've promised myself that I won't miss another meetup if it kills me. Friday is better than Thursday for me, but I can be in S.F. by 10 p.m. on Thursday.

Conference actually doesn't start till Saturday, but I arrive on Thursday so I can get some touristing in. I'm staying around Union Square, so I should be able to get to most transit-accessible places, I assume.

I haven't made it to a meetup in at least a couple of years. I think I'll make an effort to get to this one, I don't know know any of the current meetup attendees and you all seem fun.

Anything in the Mission and/or BARTable is convenient for me too. If I had to pick between the two proposed already, I prefer the spill-into-the-street character of Revolution Cafe (plus we could always take over the enormous and invariably empty wine bar across the street if it gets too crowded). There's also a flattering lack of strong lighting, but I don't really care one way or the other.

Alhamra Indian food near the 16th street BART has a BYOB policy, and is next to Esta Noche, a latin drag queen bar. The food at Alhamra is so-so but they can usually accommodate moderate size tables.

I may be able to make it out on Friday depending on work.

Damn, almost missed this.

I'd be happy to make a meetup finally. My actual preference would be The Holding Company. We can over the patio or the side area. Their Yelp page.

Friday will work out perfectly for me. I'm driving into the city for Always Comes Evening, but that's not till later.

I was at the Beale Street bar the other night, to listen to a friend's band play and I thought, "This would be the *perfect* spot for a meetup." It's a dump informal, near BART/transit, and it serves stuff.

One significant advantage to Frijtz is that it is never crowded, even on a weekend night. There are also plenty of places nearby for later socializing. I'm partial to the Mission myself, but willing to go elsewhere. I'd rather not have to trek all the way to the Embarcadero, though (sorry gryftir).

The farther it is away from the bay bridge though, the earlier I will have to leave. Still if I show up at 7 I can probably leave by 8 and make my thing.

Having a baby is no excuse for not coming. You totally could have brought the baby. The brand new and ridiculously fresh baby. They're so goddamn delicious when they're fresh I just can't stand it.

I am heartbroken that no one missed me. It was my 3rd anniversary, I ended up spending the weekend in Napa drinking wine and eating cheese. It was awesome, but I still missed you.

I am particularly sad that I missed the chance to meet loquacious, I wanted to take a look at his EDC.
