Austin meetup

Since there's more than a month before the 10th anniversary event... would anyone be interested in an Austin meetup in the near future?

I'm new to town and would love to meet some MeFolk. Suggestions for a place would be good. I'm thinking the weekend of June 13th. Thoughts?

The 10th is between the 17th and 19th. This would be the 13th or 14th. Like I said, that's more than a month.

A pre-10th meetup sounds good to me, and next weekend would be fine. No place suggestions off the top of my head, unfortunately.

How does Freddie's sound since they're dog / kid friendly and pretty easy to get to? Say...2pm on Saturday the 13th?

I might be able to swing it for an hour or two, but then I have to pick up my folks at the airport.

I am, however, all for this meetup happening and will do my best to show up. Dog and Duck is an alright/standard location, too. Hooray!

I'll talk to Mr. immlass and see if we can swing it. We have houseguests arriving that evening and much depends on the state of the house on Saturday. Hope to see you guys there!

I love the Dog & Duck. I may be able to make it. I also work at the Starbuck's around the corner, so If I have to work that day, I could duck out early for some dawgs. Get it? Terrible, I know.

Anyway, youcancallmeal's last post is highlighted. Is that just me?

I could make Dog & Duck next Saturday. I might be bringing my 3.5 year old, who loves that place (if I can't find a sitter for a couple of hours).

I love the Dog & Duck, but I do not love 2 p.m. in the summer, so I'll have to see how I feel that day. If I do show up, I'll be the one fanning myself and dragging a giant block of ice behind me on a leash.

That's possibly the last neon sign in Austin advertising air conditioning. Love it. Back in the day, when I bar-hopped, we always called it "The Air-Conditioned Tavern." It was a great place to get dizzy-drunk -- wait that was everywhere -- nm.

Can't make it tomorrow -- gotta work, but I'll see y'all for the 10th anniv. thing.

It may be the last because it was the first. As I understand it, The Tavern was the first place in Austin with AC.

I'd bring my pup as well, but I think inside is probably the best bet that time of day. I pray at the altar of Sts. Carrier and Trane; air conditioning is a must when it's 97 degrees outside.
