Istanbul/ Black Sea meetup in mid-to-late August or early September, maybe? June 19, 2009 12:35 PM   Subscribe

Considering a convocation in Constantinople.

Hey all,

So Sauce Trough and I are going to be in Turkey and environs from August 13th through September 11th. We plan to stay in Istanbul for the first week or so, and after that, we're not really sure where we'll be-- maybe in other parts of Turkey, or in the Black Sea parts of Bulgaria for a bit.

Is anyone from those parts interested in a meetup? This vacation's going to be sort of freeform, so we're really flexible about dates, exact locations, etc.

I'd like to have a meet-up in New Amsterdam.

Aren't I helpful?

I can't say. People just liked it better that way.

I suppose I could have predicted this.

Sounds great. What kind of scholarships are available?

Hey man, I will likely be back in Sofia around that time. Mail me when you have a better idea what's up, and I might be able to make it out somewhere to buy you a beer.

Meatbomb, that would be brilliant. Will do.

No waivers or travel grants are available at this time, however student-presenters with demonstrated economic (or moral) need may qualify for a modest per diem, to be paid out in equally modest alcoholic beverages. (At the broke-ass student presenter's election, the per diem may also be disbursed in the form of a single very large, elaborate, and utterly immodest alcoholic beverage, with fruit, LEDs, kumquat liqueur, candied dragonflies and/or the like.)

Please note that per diems are available to those presenting papers only. Aid to poster presenters is limited at this time to very small rations of used paperclips, slightly worn bus transfers, and sympathetic sighs.
