Why does the AskMeFi logo say "Ask MetaFilter" instead of "Ask MeFi"?
We have logos that say MeFi Projects, MeFi Music, MeFi Jobs, MeFi Podcast, MeFi Tenth, but not Ask MeFi. Could we get the AskMe logo to match the other subsite logos for added synergy?

The most important ones are "Metafilter" and "AskMetafilter" -- why not change the rest to match those?

Simple answer: The use of "MeFi" in actual parts of the site postdates the creation of Ask Metafilter.
And is "for added synergy" a bid at creating a new "professional white background"?

Perhaps. I was mostly just curious about why it's MetaFilter instead of Mefi there (especially since the link in the top bar says AskMeFi). It's not like I sit here going "Grah grah, why aren't things consistent? And where is my white background!? HURF DURF PARADIGM!"

God help me for using a word like "branding", but the blue and the green are the two big entry points of the site, and as much as folks already familiar with this place are likely to grok "mefi" as a reference, folks who are new may not. Reiterating the long form of the site name in those two header graphics is more functionally useful than it is across the rest of the site.

I do a big "who's talking about mefi?" search filter in TweetDeck, and one of the things I filter for is "askme" since that comes up sometimes, but it's also the main source of false positives because random people will jam that into whatever mouthbreathing shit they're blasting out at the world.
So the stream will be like:
- someone cites a great ask metafilter question
- someone links a lifehacker asmke roundup
- someone mentions a post on Music
- someone links to a funny comment in a thread on the blue
- "@LTrovato_93 i'm here looking for an aparment :D you can askme whatever you want"
- someone links to a metatalk thread about a meetup
- "RT @wattsStix: Shout 2the homeless guywho askme 4change I gave him 75 cents & he said "Thats all? whr the dollars?" Ungrateful HoBo! I C him"
It's like, you know how you think about drinking milk but end up actually drinking orange juice? It's like that.

Two hallmarks of a genuine organic culture are its quirky inconsistencies and ad-hoc development. Only corporations, Leninist bureaucracies and cults even come close to achieving stultifying consistency, and it's best left to them. Likewise abominations like the word 'synergy', which, excepting technical senses, ought never to used outside of a coke-fuelled ad agency pitch or similar. :P

I have always taken arguments over the pronunciation of AskMe to be knowingly facetious, whether because the person bringing it up is trying to make some sort of point-by-analogy defending their preferred pronunciation of Mefi or because they are bored and making a joke.
But if anyone has any genuine stake in a non "ASK-mee" pronunciation, I'd be fascinated to hear about it.

Couldn't you try just a little bit more?
Round, round robin run round, got to get back to where you belong,
Little bit harder, just a little bit more,
A little bit further than you gone before.
The wheel is turning and you can't slow down,
You can't let go and you can't hold on,
You can't go back and you can't stand still,
If the thunder don't get you then the lightning will.
Small wheel turn by the fire and rod,
Big wheel turn by the grace of God,
Every time that wheel turn 'round,
Bound to cover just a little more ground.
The wheel is turning and you can't slow down,
You can't let go and you can't hold on,
You can't go back and you can't stand still,
If the thunder don't get you then the lightning will.
Won't you try just a little bit harder,
Couldn't you try just a little bit more?
Won't you try just a little bit harder,
Couldn't you try just a little bit more?

cortexAdmin: "I have always taken arguments over the pronunciation of AskMe to be knowingly facetious, whether because the person bringing it up is trying to make some sort of point-by-analogy defending their preferred pronunciation of Mefi or because they are bored and making a joke.
But if anyone has any genuine stake in a non "ASK-mee" pronunciation, I'd be fascinated to hear about it."
I vote for Oskmuh.

Ghidorah: I think corhowie is illegal in Georgia. Definitely in South Carolina.
Ah, but it's legal in Argentina.
