Possible Spokane Meetup?

Is there any demand for a MeFi Meetup in Eastern Washington?

My life really isn't arranged to let me travel for 5 hours each way to attend one of the Portland or Seattle meetups that are held so frequently. I am curious as to whether there is enough membership and interest to bring together a meetup in Spokane, WA?

I have a potential place lined up (a billiard bar right downtown, I've already talked to the owner a bit about it), but have no idea whether there are enough involved readers east of the Cascades for it to be worthwhile even trying to put one of these things together. Plus, well, having not attended one of the established meetups in another city, I'm not even sure what one of these things entails outside of drinks, food, and maybe a little pool.

Any feedback about how to organize one of these is welcome, and I especially hope to hear from other MeFites living in the "Inland Empire" who might want to meet up!

Well, we might be popping over to Spokane to visit friends of the wife at some point in the next few months, I could possibly slip out for a pint.

Yeah, I can see how much "demand" there is in this part of the state... *heh* *sigh*

If you do make it out, let met know! I've been wanting to get over the big bumpy part of the state to a meetup for a while, but it just doesn't seem like it's going to happen anytime soon. Just matching a body to the words is always a joy.

You must be talking about Far West, right? I work a block from there - should be easy to pop in if there's a group getting together.

Yup, Farwest Billiards, right across from the Fox. The owner has just asked that we give him a tad bit of warning if it's going to be a group of any size at all, and to maybe check the concert schedules for the venues downtown and not make it a night when there's a big metal show going on.

Well, the response to this suggestion has been, um... not even whelming.

onomoreryan, perhaps when/if Artw comes out this direction, the three of us will have a little mini-meet, raise a glass or two, and have a generally nice howdy-doo. Apparently nobody else in the area that I know of (which isn't many) is active enough on MeFi to even check their MeMail.

At least we won't overburden Farwest Billiards when we finally do get together! :)

Sorry to have missed this -- I was in Wenatchee when you posted it. I was in Wenatchee for the big 10th anniversary party, too. It's a bit far from Spokane, but maybe we need a Schrag meetup some day...

The corpse in the library: you haven't missed anything. We haven't even made real plans yet. But if you want me to be sure to let you know if/when anything DOES come together... maybe you should drop me a line then next time you're headed this direction, and we can do something spontaneous-ish!
