Full-length Beat Farmers documentary finally released YouTube August 28, 2009 7:06 AM   Subscribe

Folo-up: In 2005 I posted the trailer for a documentary about the legendary SoCal band The Beat Farmers. Due to licensing issues *cough* Letterman clip *cough* the DVD has never been released, despite pleading from fans...until now. Director Jamie Dawson just put the whole thing on YouTube in 9 parts (about 8 mins. each) plus coda. YT Playlist here.

Why is this here instead of on the front page?

Whoa!

I missed my one and only chance the see them play in the DC area due to it being my wedding day. And then Country Dick died the following month.

Awesome! I remember this post, because it led me to go out and purchase Tales of the New West immediately afterwards. Thank you so much for the followup.

It was on the front page already; folo-ups customarily go here, in my recollection. As for the licensing issues, you need to secure rights for someone else's footage, and big media corporations are more likely to be inflexible in allowing a documentarian to use footage for free, or for a reasonable licensing fee.
