There will be an influx of Chinese "favorite farmers". Their standard MO will be to find highly favorited but short comments, and repost them "ironically". This has a projected favorite to comment ratio of 0.1 to 0.25.

honestly, i'm half glad I don't spend too much time in the healthcare threads simply because I know that the health care division can stop being political and can be all about two entirely different subjective views of the world around you. so all of a sudden, because I feel strongly about health care, I could find myself getting frothing mad and wishing death on people who, in all other things, I agree with.

It's probably actually often quite less, since I spend a lot of time in the city where he lives. I could pop by and do something to impact his typing ability, like putting his keyboard in Dvorak or changing the language of his OS to Icelandic. This would probably only slow his commenting.

I actually came into this thread to congratulate delmoi on 20,000 comments. Delmoi and I have had our run-ins in the past, and I'm ashamed to admit that on one occasion I took his attack personally and said something that was completely nasty, unfair and uncalled for. So I wanted to apologize to him. Delmoi, you really are an important contributor to the site, so congrats on 20k.
Speaking of, it's weird that the guy who wrote this comment is the same guy who's totally completely unflinchingly against any sort of universal healthcare.

Explain again why are you bringing me up in this thread? For the record, I'm not against universal healthcare, I'm simply against both the current plan and the hypothetical single payer. My reasons for being against them are very implementation-specific, not ideological.
Out of the myriad of possible ways of structuring the healthcare and health insurance systems and out of the myriad of ways for the government to provide healthcare or medical insurance to those who need it, being against two hastily slapped together plans because I believe that their specific implementations will exacerbate the problems in the current system does not constitute being "unflinchingly against any sort of universal healthcare." But thanks for bringing me up.

I didn't bring you up, shmegegge did. He linked to your popular favorites, one of which has a decidedly left-wing and progressive bent, which is in some stark fucking contrast to your attitude in the health care threads, which is not at all "simply against both the current plan and the hypothetical single payer." Here is a direct quote from you: "It blows my mind that some of my fellow citizens want to steal the private property of other citizens and launder it through the federal government just to pay for their own access to medical care, when millions of other citizens are starving and homeless."
Under a single-payer system, everyone, including the homeless, would have access to medical care. We're not taking away money from food stamps or services to the homeless to pay for it. We're going to - or should, because none of this will ever happen - remove the middle man (the record-breaking profit-making service-denying medical insurance necromancers) and yes, maybe the very well off will see a small tax increase, which, remember, you call "stealing private property."
But whatever. Your position is well-known. I don't know how you reconcile any of your progressive views with "taxes are stealing," but it doesn't matter, because I really just wanted to point out that I didn't bring you up.
Yours truly, glory be to the free hand of corporate socialism, PBUH, FUGM,

delmoi used to drive me nuts because it seemed like half his comments were reasonable and lucid and half were these cryptic, badly-spelled yawps. I actually seriously did believe that several different people were using his account, so different were the styles.
Then I just figured he just drank too much while posting sometimes.
Then pretty much all of his comments started being longer and more substantive and stuff, and so I forgot about it. Until now.

When it was in re-runs, I used to sit up nights, until 10:00 with my bass on my knee for my one chance a day to work out the fucking awesome bass riff at the beginning of Barney Miller. By the time I had it down, I was totally hooked on the show. After a couple of seasons, I could play the whole theme song in my sleep. I drank a lot then, and things are hazy. I get it mashed up with Taxi in my head sometimes, and I apologize in advance for this boorish thought-crime.
