So today's your 37th birthday... well, 37 is one of my favorite funny numbers (next to 86), so here's wishing you an entertaining year and hoping you live to be at least 86, so I can refer back to this in the 150-million-comment MetaFilter archive (which, in 2058, will be hosted in a Google Cloud made up entirely of CO2). Of course, by then, I'll be 103, so I'll either be dead and it'll be a post-dated comment (I've started working on those already) or if I'm still alive, I'll be wishing I'd taken better care of myself when I was 37 even more than I do now...

Here's hoping your Big 37 is more like Dante's in Clerks and less like Cool Hand Luke's, and remember, once the Range Game is stopped, it can't be reset for 37 hours.

Happy birthday, Matt. I would have been here sooner but I was running for Mayor of Key West. Then I lost.

Then I escorted Tom Luna to the National Equality March in DC. You don't know him, but he I feel strongly that you would like Tom (or Luna as most his friends call him, which is pretty much he has ever met). Anyhow, that was a lot, as well.

I've been sleeping for the past few days. After six weeks of mayoral candidacy—and by the way, our campaign's vote took away enough votes from the VERY BAD incumbent to allow for the TOO NEW TO BE TOO BAD new mayor to take office. Which is really good news here. Or, Woohoo!

But I just wanted you to know that Metafilter is a thing of beauty, and in the thick of everything I did manage to drop by every now and again for a quick pick-me-up.

So, I just wanted to say thank you, Matt. And again, happy birthday.

Happy (belated) birthday!

I'm using this as an excuse to thank you. While I only recently registered here, I've been lurking around for a couple of years on AskMeFi. This community has gotten me through some very rough patches; they have made me laugh through tears, given me hope and inspiration, and reminded me that I'm not alone. There are a lot of beautiful minds here, and I think they're here for a reason. I'm guessing it wouldn't be possible without the hard work of another beautiful mind. Thank you.
