NYC meetup anyone?

Hello New York! My boyfriend and I are coming to visit October 24-28. I had so much fun meeting you last time I was there that I want to do it again!

Sunday the 25th and Monday the 26th work best for me, but I could probably swing Tuesday the 27th too. I'm staying in Manhattan and would prefer a venue there, somewhere that's easily public transit accessible. If the venue serves food, even better!

Hello SisterHavana! New York will be glad to meet you, too! After our last couple of boozy drinkfests, I'd kind of enjoy a Sunday mid-afternoon meetup, maybe at a good cheap restaurant that can accommodate lots of folks and isn't Katz's. Anyone have any ideas?

(And, SisterHavana, if you were planning on a boozy drinkfest, feel free to shoot this idea down.)

I'll be in New York the evenings of 25 and 26 October too. And the whole next weekend. I wouldn't mind a boozy drinkfest myself.

I will be moving back to NYC at some point.* It's just a question of how soon. But yes, I'm looking at job prospects in the city so nice they named it twice.

* Unless, you know, I'm hit by a train or something.

I live in NJ, so I only make it to weekend meetups that don't keep me out late on a work night. Sunday afternoon could be done.

SisterHavana, want to jump in with your thoughts at this point? We've got people who are free on practically every day of your stay, and some folks who want a coffee-shop type meetup, and some who want a beery meetup. What do you prefer?

Sunday or Monday work best for me. I'm partial to a non beery meetup, since my boyfriend and I aren't really drinkers, but as long as there's food offered we're good. : )

I'm cool with that. Looks like there are many tasty options on the menu. Which location, Midtown or Downtown? Midtown is closer to where we are staying but either should work for me.

Sounds fun but I am a definite maybe because that weekend is a bit packed and I am still recovering from the death flu, which is apparently becoming a lifestyle instead of a disease.

Also, as an aside, I've seen two different people browsing metafilter in coffee shops in my neighborhood in the last week (Morgan L stop). I would have tried to strike up conversation, but neither appeared to be signed in (didn't want to peek too much, as that is creepy).

Ok, I picked a place out of a hat. Since I like to have food and am not a huge drinker, I made a res for 8-10 people at the Bowery Bar and Grill. The reservation is for 7pm, and it's under my name (Nat). I figure after food, we can hang around at their bar or wander off to someplace else better. I'd appreciate at least an informal headcount (mefimailing me is fine). If you think you're going to be late (or heck, can't make it that late and want to meetup earlier) and you want my number, also MeFiMail me.

Don't stress, though. I'd rather have you come than freak out. We can always make room for more.

Awesome. I was dying for something to do this evening (my laptop power supply broke) so I will surely be at the Bowery meet tonight for some tasty eats. I'm not sure about the monday meetup, boozy drinkfests have been getting the best of me lately (more like the worst) so I haven't decided yet, but I may go and just encourage everyone else to get wasted while I drink wine spritzers.

Unfortunately I probably won't be able to make it tonight. I should be able to tell you tomorrow about tomorrow. If that doesn't work out, maybe we could get together next weekend in addition, if anyone is keen on going out again or just had to miss this weekend's festivities.
