AAAA++++ WOULD SHOP AGAIN - the return of MeFi Mall November 22, 2009 6:39 PM   Subscribe

Show us your shops! Every year we do a pretty simple page where MeFites who offer things for sale can show off their wares in a holiday store sort of fashion. Last year's shops page is here and we'll start populating the new page over here and eventually replace the older one with the newer one. If you'd like to be part of this, send me your info.

Details:

- This is for MeFites only. If you want a friend or family member to be listed, get them an account.
- Please keep descriptions simple. Aim for 30 words or less. Long descriptions may be edited.
- No links to auctions or one-off For Sale items, this is for stuff you've created or worked on.

Send me a MeMail or email with

- your username (automagic in MeMail, otherwise a link to your profile is more helpful than your number)
- a brief description of your shop & category (see list from last year)
- a link or two (please no eighteen link descriptions)
- if it's same as last year, just let me know and I can transfer it.
- let us know if there's a MeFi discount, we'll add some special icon or something.

Not sure what the status of the Etsy Team is this year. Ask me if you have other questions. Thank you!

Where do I post if I will do stuff for money? I don't have a shop, or a speciality. Other than being a jerk. So if you are one of those people who is kind of timid and has trouble standing up for yourself, I'm your guy. I will tell people where to get off and where things can be shoved. Now give me money.

This makes me very excited! Christmas shopping here I come!

I'm considering making some of my art available this year. I'm working on the logistics now. Probably smaller, mailable prints but if anyone wants any large or larger format stuff we can talk about it.

Also - is anyone interested in my DJ mixes?

How about creative rants, err, monographs? Send me a pic and I'll either praise or make fun of your face. ;)

I would love to buy a painting of a ship (example of the kind in profile) from a Mefite.

Yaaaay! I'm glad that we're doing this again. I had a few sales from Mefites last year and it was awesome.

The Metafilter Etsy team is useful, but it could probably use a little cleaning. Only a few of the shops listed appear to be functioning, but I guess that just means more suspense for anyone browsing through the linked stores.

Yeah, I have some serious maintenance to do about the Etsy team. The blog header, for one - there was apparently a kerfluffle on the forums about us using a name that was already in widespread use as a nickname for a more established and active group. And I wasn't much of a forum-reader to start with, so I was totally oblivious to the mess until the Etsy admins told me they'd changed our group name without even asking what we'd like it changed to. Anyway, I trust Metafilter people far more than I trust the Etsy admins now, and I'll try to get everything in order over Thanksgiving.

If we're already listed in Team Metsy (or whatever the Etsy team will be called), is there any need to send our shop info to Jessamyn?

This is awesome!

I sent my Etsy shop in because I'd rather have one click between it an Metafilter rather than have them wade through a list. It's good to have a choice.

I've got everyone added who has sent me stuff so far. Looking good so far, thanks folks!

Very awesome.

I'm still ironing out payment details on my end (I don't have paypal, but a generous mefite has offered to accept payments for me) but it looks like I'll be working on some kind of affordable art/print package just for this project, so this will be the only place/time it'll be available.

I've been looking for a reason to do something new anyway and I've had some ideas percolating for a while, so the timing is great and the juices are flowing.

The Morgan Drum store link doesn't work, though you can get to it from the user profile associated with the shop.

Thanks for the heads up on that, I fixed the drum store link.

This support of our work is very very much appreciated, and I can tell you that it is indeed 'working' - I'm getting tons of visitors coming from the page. Thank you to the powers-that-be for allowing this to happen!

The link to my book on there is wrong (the url got truncated somewhere along the line)

This is the correct link, if you don't mind changing it:

Also cheers. And congratulations to everyone on there. There's some really great stuff there. Three cheers for metafilter.

aaaaaan, pretty wild opal necklace ordered for the girlfriend. Thanks metafilter!

Hey jessamyn, you done adding them, or do you still have some in the queue? (just wanted to check my mail didn't get lost in the shuffle=)
posted by Jezztek at 11:00 PM on November 26, 2009

They'll be in the queue and I'll add them as I get to them over the next week or so. I've been away from home since last Friday [doing family/boyfriend stuff] so I've been adding them as I get some quiet time. Yours is in the queue. I think I'm getting home this evening. Should be up then.

Thanks everyone; This is fabulous!

Is this page linked from anywhere? I could only find it on the sidebar, and it's kind of buried in the middle.

Also, on the opals store, it says use the coupon 'go wild' (without the ' '). In case anyone else is overly literal, that means "without the quotes" not "without the space".

It's linked from the t-shirt store page, I'm not sure where we can put it to be sticky for the next few weeks.

Endorsement: I just got a print from Lou Stuell's site (via etsy) and I love it!

The print itself is very high quality (and, of course, cute!). It came really quickly and well packaged.

We also had a lovely email exchange because I'm a paypal idiot.

The opal I got is really nice. Shipping didn't take too long either.

yeah, another wild opal endorsement. it is a really pretty necklace, and arrived rather quickly!
