And that was the start of the MetaFilter sitcom. Well, that and some pretty clear stealing from The Odd Couple.

the weird thing will be in a month when melbourne newspapers start reporting the discovery of a dead body with no teeth or fingernails, drained of fluids with a disfigured face dressed in thrift store clothes in a bad part of a town.

Lacks plot devices.

One of the roommates needs to have a past with the Australian Mafia (yeaaaah mate, you know it exists), they must have a freaky neighbour, and a talking kangaroo or something.

Also, it's probably sunny and warm over there right now. How crazy is that?

Nah, the body should appear dressed in a Fark t-shirt, to confuse the police investigators even further.
posted by Iosephus at 3:23 PM on December 4, 2009

Then someone would post on Fark about someone being murdered in a Fark t-shirt, and the world would explode.

No no, one of them hit the other with their car and didn't have insurance, so the judge orders them to be their butler. (Man, that sentence is horribly awkward due to lack of knowledge of the genders of the persons involved.)

Here's the story of a lovely lady
Who was moving out of her friends house
She posted a question to AskMe
Looking for someone as quiet as a mouse

Here's the story of another lady
Who was moving to Melbourne on her own,
She seemed to fit the above description
And she was all alone.

Till the one day when the MeFite met this other MeFite
And their questions were much more than a dare,
Yes these girls would answer each other's questions
That's the way they became the MetaFilter Pair.

The MetaFilter Pair,
The MetaFilter Pair,
That's the they became the The MetaFilter Pair!

Awesome. I didn't realize Metafilter substituted for Craigslist so well.

I need somewhere to live in Vancouver in January. Anyone offering? The frickin' Olympics are coming and everyone is trying to rent out their closets and crawlspaces for billions in cashmoney!

I used to publish a newsletter in the ye olde days and would always pair "wanted" and "for sale" listings the were requesting/selling the exact same thing. If I was a better human being, I would have called up one or the other before press and let them know.

Not quite as cool as I thought as the first person was looking for someone to replace them rather than live with them, but convenient I guess.

Ditch the motherfucking city already.
Sydney's so much better
posted by Fiasco da Gama at 2:43 PM on December 6, 2009

I really don't have a dog in this fight, because I think that any kind of Sydney-Melbourne rivalry is silly & pointless, but I will state that Melbourne does a number of things much much better than Sydney - in particular, bars, live music, dining (arguably), public transport, friendlier & less pretentious people, and junkies hassling you every second for spare change should you ever be stupid enough to take the pavement dining option.
