Alright, after having my question deleted from AskMeFi, I'll try in MetaTalk: While reading and posting in this thread I noticed a lot of people thinking that it's particularly creepy for an older man to hit on a much younger woman. It got me thinking about men who are older and in relationships with younger women and what the general opinion of women is regarding this. So my question, ladies of MeFi; do you generally find it creepy or distasteful when older men date younger women? And if so, why?

I swear to (whatever you find sacred) I'm not trolling here. I just wondered what the views and opinions are of your average woman regarding this--in the words of one poster: only-common-in-Hollywood-practice.

I don't think you're trolling, but this is framed pretty much as a general chat session without a real clear problem to be solved.

It's the classic double standard. Older man with young woman: creepy. Older woman with young man: coming of age experience.

You should "discuss" this elsewhere where you are sure to get some good, maybe bad and probably some offensive comments.

Sorry I wasn't able to get back to your email sooner, kaiseki, but Metatalk really isn't a good place for this either—generic chatty do-overs aren't part of what this part of the site is for. There's not really a good way to do this on any part of Metafilter as such; I'm not sure if there's some way to rework your question into something more concrete and less like "what's the deal with x", but if we can figure something out (feel free to hit us up via the contact form or drop me a mefimail) the thing to do would be to give that a shot next week in askme.

Beyond that, your best bet may just be chatting about it in the thread on the blue that you're linking to in the first place, if anybody there feels like talking about it.
