Minneapolis, MN meetup (May 28-31) during RSA conference May 5, 2010 1:19 PM Subscribe
BlooPen and I are both attending the RSA conference this year, and we're hoping to meet and hang out with some folks while we're there. Anyone else in Minneapolis want to get together for dinner/lunch sometime between Friday, May 28 and Monday, May 31st?
Preferably anytime other than Friday evening as I won't be able to make it then.

I will be there Friday afternoon to Monday afternoon. I'll be hanging out with my girlfriend (she's the PhD student, not me), but I'd love to meet MeFites if time allows!

I'm thinking lunch, too. Is anyone doing the research network on Saturday? That goes to 1:30 and includes lunch (if I remember correctly), so if you are, that day wouldn't work. Did anyone sign up for the official conference luncheon on Sunday? I can't remember if I did, but I'd be willing to skip that. There are no other conference activities during that time (12-2) on Sunday.
Do those things change anyone's preference for a particular day?

Brunch at Hell's Kitchen on Sunday sounds good to me. Do we set the date? We should probably get a rough headcount so we can make a reservation. They can get kinda busy for weekend brunch.

TIME CHANGE: In order to reserve a table at Hell's Kitchen for a party of 10 on Sunday, May 30th, I had to select 12:30 instead of noon--is this a problem for anyone? Please let me know!

Works for me too. If anyone feels like showing up before 12:30 there's usually seating at the bar.They have good coffee and bloody marys.

We have a reservation for 10. We can't change that reservation online ahead of time without changing the time (and pretty significantly, it sounds like). Hell's Kitchen has been pretty accommodating of changes when I've gone there previously, but I've also generally had brunches on weekends well before noon, so they've been before the thick of the rush.
So the answer is that I *think* we'll be okay adding a couple more people, but we're getting to the point where I'm not sure. We're up to 14 by my (inadequately caffeinated) counting, so...
As they say on their reservations page, We'll do our best to accommodate you but please note there is usually a wait on weekends.
I'm not sure what la_scribbler's schedule is like today, but my guess is that a call to see if we can bump the reservation to 14 might be a good thing.

UPDATE: Hell's Kitchen will try to get all 14 of us seated together, but in the case that they can't, I've added another reservation for a party of 4 at 12:30 on Sunday. The hostess will have a note next to our reservations stating that we would like to be seated together.
So we'll play it by ear on that front Sunday, but in terms of answering everyone that wants to join the party--we're covered. See you then!
