Britney Spears strange cover version June 24, 2010 5:17 AM   Subscribe

"Hit Me Baby One More Time" played by a strange experimental band on pots, pans, and a stove. Dressed as houswives, pants falling down... Maybe Finnish, or Swedish?

This existed on MetaFilter, and I am in an emergency situation. Does anyone remember this? Link?

I think you're thinking of Hurra Torpedo's cover of "Total Eclipse of the Heart".

Oh my god, thank you so much!!!

No wonder I couldn't find it.

That is surely one of the greatest creations that civilization and technology has ever afforded mank ind.

Indeed, you can imagine my distress when I remembered that it existed but then could not immediately view it. I think I'll set it as my homepage just to be sure.

Their cover of tATu's "All the Things" is perhaps even more awesome, if such a thing is possible. Maybe, since you were thinking Britney, that's the one you've seen.

Oh! They do "Toxic" too.

Oh...so THIS post is the reason I've had the song stuck in my head this morning. The subconscious mind is a horrible DJ.

That Total Eclipse of the Heart video looks like Zach Galifianakis and Weird Al formed a cover band. Fucking sweet.

Fun fact: lunar eclipses only happen at the full moon.

The guy with the long hair who plays the fridge in the "total eclipse" video is also the lead singer in the Cumshots. (He and the other guys are members of whole bunch of other more or less serious and not so serious bands. Plus, he's well known from several radio and TV shows here in Norway.)

“My dream appliance doesn't exist, because otherwise, of course, it wouldn't be my dream – but if my dream were to come true...” Hurra Torpedo visit an American appliance store.

This thread is fucking awesome and should be made to a post on the blue. By someone else besides me.

The only thing that could possibly make that better is if they served the audience whatever strange meal resulted from all that banging at the end of the song. Truly awesome!

They kind of seem like human muppets.

heyho: Not only a total eclipse, it was also a full moon.

I quite enjoyed the singing and appliance playing, but what really made that video for me was the element of suspense: just how far would those track pants fall by the end of the song?

Bare Egil (Egil Hegerberg), the singer slash guitar player in "eclipse," performing:

Umbrella

Rehab

Beggin

Lots of his own songs on YouTube, but they're in Norwegian without subtitles.
