Absolut Metafilter March 24, 2002 2:16 PM   Subscribe

We're probably all familiar with the Absolut Vodka ads. But there are a number of good homemade ads as well. I think an "Absolut MetaFilter" (or MetaTalk) would have hilarious, and diverse results. What would your "Absolut MetaFilter/MetaTalk" include? Taglines, pancakes, 1142? What other Absolut ads do you wish there were?
NOTE: This is not a request. I do not encourage you to make an "Absolut MetaFilter/MetaTalk" ad without the consent of mathowie.

I don't have any problem with this, feel free to go nuts with photoshop.

I don't see what is so interesting about liquor ads though.

The last part was not directed directly at you jcterminal...but it had crossed my mind while posting. In fact, I thought about linking the Winamp thread...

If you're good in photoshop, let's see what you can come up with. As Matt doesn't have any problem...
I'd post the first one, but my graphics skills are lacking...

Personally, it's not the fact that it's a liquor ad, but the actual topics and the way the people creating the ads think of certain things in pop culture, etc.

Can I make a RumpleMinze MetaFilter ad?

okay, so it's a bad effort... but it's something to get the contributions started: in-joke orgy (30k appr.)

What font does Absolut use for their ads?
posted by Succa at 7:26 PM on March 24, 2002

I couldn't find it. I ended up cutting and pasting letters from other ads. (Beware, absolut.com is a flash nightmare.)

Ok. Here's my go.

It only looks crappy because I wanted to make the file size reasonable. Ok, so it looks crappy anyways. I'm proud of myself.

What the hell.... Being webspaceless ( I know, I know...what kind of world do I live in?) it's a cheesy freeweb-won't serve-up-images link.

Warning, Tripod link.

This wasn't anything like I originally intended, but what the hell - it's past my bedtime. Thanks to Graham for the Floating Head of Mathowie image.

The weight to the left should not be construed as political commentary.

Because you have to save Umberto's file, I've taken it upon myself to resize it, decrease clarity, and then host it.

Jacobw - what is that at the top of your pic - parmesan cheese? Italian marble? Driving me nuts, it is.

Started, this clone war has.

I'm no expert but will this result in one of those image copyright infringement threatening letters?

Jacobw - thank you.

looks like a couple crack rocks to me, iconomy. send some to your friends today.
posted by mlang at 11:00 AM on March 25, 2002

Ah....crack.

Damn if that doesn't look like parmesan cheese. *If there isn't a More Addictive than Parmesan Cheese tagline, there ought to be!

*trying to gracefully cover up the fact that I mistook crack for cheese.

It is indeed crack at the top of my pic...though I can't tell you with any certainty other than that I think the page I stole it from was being truthful. Is this going to result in copyright infringement letters? I doubt it. It's not like we're using any company logos or fantastic scenery shots. And I'd imagine Absolut would probably like this, it's good publicity.

Woohoo! On preview I see I have contributed to a new tagline. I like it iconomy.
