I am currently trying to lose x amount of weight before my birthday next month, which would certainly change the size of the t-shirt I would choose to wear in mid-December.

Solution: order 2 and if weight loss goes as plans, give the other to my boyfriend and let him ask what the fuck it means and/or have two to wear no matter what size I am.

Win-win-win-win!

"MetaFilter: Flagged as Fantastic."?

The very first time I flagged an offensive post on MeFi, I flagged it as "Fantastic", because for some reason I assumed that there was no need to flag something in a good way and this particular "fantastic" meant "ludicrous, outlandish and completely deviant from the norm". A few weeks later I realized my gaff, and now some mod somewhere thinks I think that Hitler-shaped Baby Meat (or something) is fantastic.

My last lot of shirts were the biggest available, but still too small for comfort. Also, though I was somehow expecting all-cotton they were actually cotton-poly blend, which I can't wear for religious reasons. What are the chances of doing an all-cotton production run including circus-tent sizes?

For me, I guess I have to follow the Shirt.Woot style guide, which says:

Please check our sizing chart before you order. The Woot Tee follows a classic closer-fitting style. If you prefer a baggier look, order a larger size. If there is not a larger size, consider starting a belly-hanging-out trend.

Got one before they ran out! following predictable inner debate/overthinking plate of beans approach -- I usually wear a small! But I hate tight T shirts. Medium? What if that is still too small? Can't go wrong with a baggy shirt! There, ready to order. Or should I get medium and large just in case? Naah. Stupid to have 2 identical T shirts in different sizes. T shirt drawer is close to full already. So order already. Ready? C'mon, order or they'll run out again and you'll be sad. Large it is! Sure hope it doesn't come to my knees. Too late now. Isn't it?

Oh yeah -- THANK YOU for doing this! Love the design.

Yeah, that size chart makes no sense. I guess it's like a suit jacket? I wear a 44L in fine suits which says a size L here, but really a XL fits about right.

They do fit a lot like any sort of American Apparel or new threadless shirt does, more snug than you might be used to in a more standard Hanes Beefy-T thing. And they go up to 3XL for men, but 2XL for women is the biggest the company makes.

This really fits into the secret "I fave you!" hand sign that I am developing. If you encounter another person whom you know frequents Metafilter on the street, on the train, in a bar, whatever, what you can to is, first extend your left index finger in front of your face, in a vertical fashion. Then, you make another "one" with you right index finger and cross the left one, midway.

This will, first, identify you as one of "us," and, more importantly, break the ice. Who would not want to be "faved," in this way, out in public?

Any chance for Tall sizes? Being a tall guy and all. MT and/or LT sizes would be great.
posted by seanmpuckett at 2:26 PM on November 10, 2010

Will a onesie fit a cat? Awkward lifestyle aside, I'll totally stuff my cat into a Mefi onesie.

Bringing it old school: 386.

Lou Stells, here you go.

And remember to size up for a looser fit. No one likes a snug thong.

I was wearing my "Please Hope Me" shirt the other day and was accosted by some hot little teeny girls (promoting Green Peace) when one saw my shirt and chirped, "OMG! I'll TOTALLY Hope you!"

While I barely escaped an old man on pretty girl perv-hug, I'm left wondering if I should be proud of doing the right thing or if I'm a wimp for denying myself. Whatever, I've been Hoped for sure.

482 is my uneducated guess. If I win every permutation of those digits is going down on the next lottery draw 'cause, you know, that's exactly how these kinds of things work.

I'll order a shirt when my ship comes in (i.e., Birthday Moneys).
posted by Hardcore Poser at 10:22 PM on November 10, 2010

So I assume that means "I bookmark Metafilter" because you know favorites aren't used for any other reason, right?

I was hoping for a shirt that didn't remind me of the only thing I dislike about Metafilter.

Pass.

Got one!

Wasn't there a "I Do Not Want To Be Exposed To Anus" shirt at some point?

I'd like one of those too, as I really don't want to be exposed to anus either.

So, DanF - if a favorite is to be expressed IRL with index fingers making a plus sign, what gesture could we maybe use for flagging, I wonder?

I like that shit but I really really hate paypal and will never use them again after they once held my money for way too long because they couldn't understand I wanted something delivered to germany.

is there no other way to pay?
posted by krautland at 5:25 PM on November 11, 2010

The "faving" hand sign, on public, is with the insides of the fingers pointed out towards the subject, and the "flagging" sign is when the knuckles are pointed towards the other person.

The "I'm not sure whether to fave or flag this person but I really really hope that he/she's not the devil" sign is then one finger is oriented knuckle out and the other is oriented knuckle in.

Seconding seanmpuckett. Absence of a "tall" option means I wouldn't be able to wear one of these without baring my midriff, and my midriff is something I'm not in the mood to share publicly.

Mathowie can speak to this himself but I think this run was a "t-shirts for members" sort of thing. If people are really interested in getting kid-sized shirts, bring it up with him so we can do some planning for next time.

Cool. Glad people are getting their tees, but something in me can't tolerate it saying "MetaFilter" on both sides. Also, I'm broke, so I have to find a reason not to want one.

I want an IMAGINARY INTERNET FRIEND!

Why shouldn't it be on both sides? People walk both to AND fro, after all.

You're right... it is the kind of thing that seems off when you see it online, but will be irrelevant in real life. Much less most of the internet.

I get tall t-shirts from Lands End and Eddie Bauer. They are wonderful, especially in long sleeves that -- holy shit -- actually reach the end of my orang-like arms. And don't pop out of my trousers when I lean over. So, yes, there are tall sized t-shirts.
