The page is still loading, please wait to add favorites. January 14, 2011 8:45 AM   Subscribe

In the green, the kim chi thread does not allow me to favorite it.

This is the error I get....

"The page is still loading, please wait to add favorites."

I have waited a bit for it to clear, but it seems to be stuck.

I've had that problem if I had my Adblock turned on. Turning off AdBlock and refreshing the page fixed it.

(Which, actually, is something I should go mention in that "why do/don't people turn off Adblock" thread.)

You might try a hard refresh on that page to see if that clears it up for you. Usually that's Ctrl + Shift + R, but it varies by browser. Do other pages work ok?

Did the following......
- hard refresh
- rebooted Chrome
- rebooted the computer

- Don't know where Adblock is adjusted in Chrome.

I still get the same error.

Not a biggie. I can certainly live without a few favorites.

Do you have a Sharpie?

It's not limited to mefi - I've had a ton of problems with AdBlock + Chrome all over the internets this past week. My solution so far has been to stop using Chrome, which is really annoying.

Try clicking this link. You should see a bunch of JavaScript text in your browser. Now go back and try reloading the page again.

If you can't get to that page, we need to find out why—that's causing your problem. And definitely try disabling AdBlock and any other extensions that could be blocking pages such as NoScript or Greasemonkey. Something could be blocking that script.

To disable AdBlock in Chrome. Choose Window --> Extensions from the top menu. You should be able to disable from there.

pb, I clicked that link. I got the java page no problem, but no go on the favorite adding..

Then I went and cleared my browser cashe, restarted Chrome and it works fine now.

Thanks!

yay! Sometimes the browser can't fetch a background page and it "remembers" that the page isn't available and stops trying. Usually a hard refresh will do the trick once you can reach the page, but Chrome doesn't have a hard refresh option afaik. So clearing your cache must be the way to force the browser to try grabbing a new version of all pages in Chrome.

For future reference (and maybe we should put this in the FAQ somewhere) here are Wikipedia's instructions for bypassing your browser cache in various browsers: Bypass your cache.

Well, in this case clearing the browser cache using the keyboard (cntrl-reload) did not do the job. ( I did not try cntrl-F5 or anything else.)

What i did was go to the wrench>>Options>>Under The Hood>>Clear Browsing Data. That seemed to do the trick.

Maybe get cortex on the phone and tell him which comments need to be favorited? Today is Friday, so keep in mind that hold times can be longer than usual.

But the hold music is teh awesome

As someone who lived with a Korean roommate and kept kimchee in the refrigerator, which made everything near it taste like somebody had thought they were going to cleverly murder somebody by poisoning their vegetables, but had lost control and dumped far too much poison in, I can confidently say this:

Kimchee is nobody's favorite.

In Soviet Korea, kimchi favorites you.

Great thread, thanks for mentioning it. H Mart is nearby and I can easily buy kimchi but it's crazy expensive for what it is. DIY sound fun.

Yes. Sheesh. I mean, everyone knows that you just take it back out of the trash bin.

Are you running NoScript?

Not that I know of. Aside from the Greasemonkey script for deleted posts, I generally keep things pretty clean.

AZ, I love you like a cross-dressing little brother, but you are sinfully wrong and kimchi is the best.

As someone who lived with a Korean roommate and kept kimchee in the refrigerator

You can't fool me. I love the K-drama so I know that all Koreans have at least two dozen earthenware pots the size of a milk churn outside their front door for storing the Kimchi in.
