I cannot find the hilarious Monkey lyrics to the Law and Order theme that someone posted when the OG Law and Order was canceled. "Monkey in a tree...banana banana..." Help finding the thread?

You're the monkey face
You're the monkey in the tree
You're the monkey face
You're the monkey in the tree
Eating all the bananas, eating all the bananas
Eating all the bananas, eating all the bananas
[guitar solo]
You're the monkey face
You're the monkey in the tree
You're the monkey face

Fuck yeah. Thanks lesli212. Now my Law and Order marathon can fade out properly.

...yes, you are the monkey face, roommate.

Also, did you know there's a full version of the theme we've all been missing out on? We have all been suffering from a tragic lack of extended synth guitar.

If it exists, there is a Mario Paint Composer version of it.

I used to work with a guy who was At one point the assistant to Mike Post, the guy who wrote the L&O theme song and scored the episodes. Beyond the fact that Post was apparenty an insufferable asshole who has been riding the L&O gravy train for two decades, apparently he could score like six episodes in a half hour.

They'd provide him with points in the script where there should be music and it'd play out something like this:

"Brian, bring the tape to 6:13"

(Brian winds the tape)

*eerie synth stab*

"9:23"

*eerie synth stab*

"16:42"

*eerie synth stab*

"21:13"

*eerie synth stab*

"alright. I'm going to play golf. Clean this place up it's a fucking mess."

I bought a copy of this at least partially for the cover.

It's not music.

There's no melody,
it's just tones.

Just dark, ominous tones.

'The masturbating dog killer
is on the loose again.

'He'll kill the owner,

but at least the
dogs are happy.'

(musical sting)

Speaking of Law & Order, I laughed and laughed at this.

Its the funky bass lines.

Given the theme from The Rockford Files and "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)" I'm granting Mike Post permission to be as obnoxious an ass as he cares to be, because damn.

It's pretty obvious part of the reason dogs howl to the L&O theme is because they've heard the shit a billion times.

Anybody ever notice the similarity between the Law and Order theme song and the Night Court theme song?

Yes.

(But of course the Night Court theme--the ending in particular--was largely stolen from Fraggle Rock.)

(And don't even get me started on Family Ties -- Kate & Allie -- Growing Pains.)

So has anyone put the words to the music yet? I would very much like to hear the L&O theme song with the monkey words.
Because all my friends are junkies. thats not really true.

I'm here to second Sailormom's request. We just attempted to put the lyrics to the theme song ourselves, and failed. I can't make them scan.

Won't some enterprising and talented MeFite help us?

The "bananas" part goes with the clarinet solo, I think.
