Could the 'Joined' field in your profile behave like the 'Birthday' field? Can the date I joined link to other users that joined on the same day/date?

17 of those have no posts, no comments, no questions, no answers, no favorites and 10 do not exist or did not complete the process. Only 1 has disabled his or her account.

As I recall, that was a time when you could sometimes sign up, but sometimes couldn't. There are a couple who joined that day with under 5 posts/comments/questions/answers favorites. I was surprised to recognize only two or three names from the lot.

We talked about this a bit this morning in the mod meeting room (email) and the only reservation we had is that you can't opt in to participating. Unlike birthdays, you don't actively enter some information to be included in the lists. It doesn't seem critical enough to include a permanent space on a preferences page, and we're worried some people will be annoyed by being on a list somewhere without their explicit approval. You can gather this information now if you're very curious, so I'm not sure it's worth annoying some to make that process easier.

Are there stats somewhere for how many members join per day, on average?

We have some admin tools that tell how many people have been signing up over the last few days. Looks like we're averaging around 10 completed sign-ups/day recently.

Huh, didn't realize I'd joined on what seems to have been the day the gates were opened. Makes sense as I remember reading the site when I was living in FL, which was 1999-2000. posted by Librarygeek at 10:59 PM on April 27, 2011

Traditional punctuation has the comma after the month. More modern style is to not use a comma at all. As long as you have the date in the correct dd mmmm yyyy format, the location of the comma doesn't really matter.

Bingo; they do the first bit, which reserves the userid, but they don't drop the fiver so the profile never goes active.

There's basically no "deleted users" other than test accounts earlier in the site's history that I can recall. There might be a couple of weird exceptions, but it's not standard practice; for most purposes, we'd just ban an account and it'd be visible still with a note to that effect.
