Tired of Ralph Nader posts October 24, 2000 10:38 PM   Subscribe

Now I would never, never try to impose my own ideas about what should or should not be posted on MeFi, but for the last three weeks I've been wishing I could go somewhere and set some field that said "Don't show me any thread whose parent includes either the words Ralph or Nader". Oh, how I wish I had that.

In the nine months I've been an active participant, I've never wanted such a thing before now. Well, only two more weeks and then it will all die down. I guess I can last that long. But it's been a long time since I've seen such an appalling waste of bits. grumble grumble

Tonight I nearly posted to MeFi itself the following:

------------
Only two more weeks of having to put up with Ralph Nader posts. I can hardly wait.
-----------

Then I came to my senses and realized it would probably get me kicked off the system, not to mention starting the ultimate flamewar in the history of MeFi.

...And I'm probably gonna get flamed anyway.

Not by me. If and only if Matt could automate it, subject filtering wouldn't hurt my feelings, either.

Until then I just use the subject filter in my head.

For those of us outside the US, the interest in any posting on the presidential elections has limited appeal. I like to see lively discussion on any subject, but the sheer number of posts on one subject (the elections themselves and pro-Nader, anti-Bush/Gore) is becoming a bit too much. I'm coming back far less often at the moment, probably be back to the several times a day norm after the elections though.
