Does Metafilter have a Fitbit community? I got a Fitbit* for myself for Christmas, and of all the web-based health and fitness trackers, I like this one the best. I'd love to talk with other MeFi Fitbitters for encouragement, tips, venting. etc.

So, if there's a want, I can make a MetaFilter Fitbit community on the FitBit website. I searched both MeFi and Fitbit, and it doesn't seem like one is made. And if you want to see my profile, it's here: http://www.fitbit.com/user/22NWT7. I think that it'd a be a good community.


* You don't have to have an actual Fitbit device to make use of the webpage, you can track your calorie and exercise counts manually, and it'll still track them for you. I have the device and I love it, but I also know it's not in everyone's needs or budgets.

There are a number of mefites on Health Month who have fitbits.

Nice, ocherdraco. I used to be on Health Month, but I didn't like the daily remind mails, nor the losing of life points if I didn't make a goal. I just like using plain Fitbit a lot better.

I'm a member of a Metafilter group on Fitbit so it does it exist. But frankly I find the Fitbit forums a pain to use and not really natural to discussion. I don't think there is even one topic started in the group.

I'm a member of shitfit. Every day at midday it emails me to let me know that my deskbound lifestyle is killing me. Which I use as a handy reminder to put the pizza in for lunch.

I love my Fitbit. Just joined the Metafilter group too, though I agree with everyone else that the forums system over there is awful.

Seriously though, I wish this thing had a "sick" setting, because I feel like crap, yet I still want to get my steps in.

Just joined--had no idea we had one! I've been using my Fitbit since last summer--indirectly inspired by Health Month, though I don't use the 'steps' goal as a rule there--and love it. It's been transformative.

I love my fitbit, and it's nice to see the MetaFilter group get populated, for no other reason than bringing out a little competitive streak to see if I can get to the top of the leaderboards.

I joined the group but my Fitbit hardware failed a few months ago so I haven't been tracking anything for quite a while. I am trying to get them to replace it, though.

My girlfriend gave me a fitbit when they originally came out. It died after a few months and they replaced it for free. I had a lot of fun with it until I left it clipped to a black shirt and ran it through the laundry. They don't survive that. I haven't told her yet and need to get it replaced soon. Going to join the group now.
