With last night's fascinating FPP on Mark Pauline, homunculus now has made the most front page posts (1176!) to the Blue. Formerly, that distinction was held by mathowie. Congratulations homunculus, and thank you!
homunculus is the bestest poster, incidentally, not just in quantity, but in quality too

And not just here. He has done more to keep one certain MeFi spin-off/alternative alive than anybody (including me AND the folks who run the site). As well as keeping 8-year-old threads going where they don't close 'em after 30 days.

I'm still convinced homunculus is an AI. No human being can crawl the vastness of the web ceaselessly for good links - we have to sleep and work and stuff. But homunculus is always on the move, hunting the best stuff amid the dreck. Even YouTube, fercrissakes - a person would go insane wading through all the garbage there but homunculus's algorithms emerge smooth and clean, clutching a gem to share with us. Luckily he's an amiable AI with good taste, unlikely to steal nuclear launch codes or anything tacky like that.

I'd always hoped that homunculus' handle was a subtle nod to Fullmetal Alchemist, but a cursory search through his activity belies that theory. I guess he's still pretty okay despite that.

I remember the two or three weeks back almost a decade ago now when I tried to keep up with homunculus' level of posting on the offshoot site WarFilter.
I found it physically and mentally impossible match his quantity of information and quality of insight, and that was just within the confines of that one isolated part of the MeFi universe.
homunculus, you've directly provided more access to more information to more people than almost anyone else I can think of. You're a credit to MetaFilter and you've made the internet a better place.

You kid, but the one good thing Reddit has that Metafilter doesn't (yes, I said it) is flare. It's like a nice little nod given by the community (as opposed to the self-aggrandizing long-windedness of signatures).
Some users deserve the Metafilter equivalent of flare, something like the "staff" tag by their names. Homunculus is one of the users.
I suggest "Reanimator".
