Meow Shoutout

I would like to point out the superhelpful answers to this wonderfully bizarre question: which in turn reminds me of this even more wonderfully bizarre question. Meowlectronics. It is a thing.

When you favorite something, a meow happens at a mod's abode.

That's a good question, meow, but meow can't really say, meow. Here, let meow Google that meow meow.

If I ever got a cat and a dog at the same time, they would be named Meowrio and Bow-wow-ser. That is all.

We have this clock that plays a different American songbird song each hour. We had to take it off the wall because Roswell was determined to hunt it and kill it. It's currently face-down in a place he can't knock it off of.

Holy shit I know that clock! Is seven o'clock the Tufted Titmouse?
posted by Mrs. Pterodactyl at 7:44 PM on February 6, 2013 [1 favorite]

No - five o'clock on this one! And two of the birds are reversed: when it's mockingbird hour (2 o'clock), the clock plays mourning dove (7 o'clock) and vice versa.

AAAAH THEN HOW DOES YOUR FAMILY KNOW WHEN TO ASSEMBLE?
posted by Mrs. Pterodactyl at 8:18 PM on February 6, 2013 [1 favorite]

It's very confusing! Mostly, we go by the ack-ack-ack noise the cat makes when the clock sings!

If by assemble you mean "look at the cat making ack-ack-ack noises."
posted by rtha at 8:52 PM on February 6, 2013 [6 favorites]

Yes, that makes sense. It's just that we had one of those clocks in a house my family used to stay in on vacations and we would assemble at the call of the Tufted Titmouse so it is a bit perplexing to me when other families have different ways of doing things.

Nonono. "I have no idea how these people managed to repair their speaker systems, sweep the floor of bug carcasses, pick up the remains of clothes left out to line-dry, repair chewed cords on phone chargers accidentally left out, wipe paw-prints off the beeping touch-sensitive stovetop, clean the litter, repot plants, and still pick up their cat and call it Fluffykins Sweety-Poo."

If anyone wants a meowing alarm clock, may I introduce you to Susu, short for Susuwatari, Miss Soot Sprite the Spry Sprightly Zoomer of Whee who wakes me up every morning precisely 90 seconds before my electrical clock, with bounce bounce bounce "prrooow" pounce on feet "preeew" gnaw toesies "prooow! prow prow!" wiggle rear end, super-pounce rebound off wall and onto human's stomach "meep! mwap!"

There have been advances in meowlectronics since then. My husband and I have gotten the Meowsic as a gift for two people now—each keypress plays "meow!" in a different tone. You can easily play the Meow Mix song on it, for instance.
