To celebrate Metafilter's 15th anniversary this month, I have given myself a MeFi-themed manicure. I thought I would share with you all.

Other neat mefiversary things:

hydrophonic made these super nifty coasters!
The Chicago Cabal (TINCC) is doing a month of meetups!

Is anyone else in too deep?

I'm thinking about making a cake for the DC 15th! Right now my plan is just to try to make it blue with the words "MeFi" in yellow but I am open to suggestions. Also, those nails are effing fierce! Great idea!

It's cool. My penmanship is butt slop.

I'm thinking about making a cake for the DC 15th!

In the past when I've had more time, I've thought about doing a metafilter cake, too! In my head it's our logo written out on a blue cake on a disc of white marshmallow fondant.

But in my head most things are cake, so.

I wouldn't mind a MetaFilter pedicure. Rather than the Cthulhu theme now in place

Ugh, still groaning! The nails are awesome (but I'm low on sleep and coffee, so my brain was even more addled than usual).

Chicago folks mean that a week of meet ups is WONDERFUL!

It is also EXHAUSTING!

But more wonderful than exhausting.

Thinking about it, I am at a total loss to understand why I find "butt slop" so much funnier than "butts LOL". Like, "butts LOL" is just worth a chuckle, but I've totally lost my mind over the concept of "butt slop".

There is obviously something very, very seriously wrong with me.

Currently, mochapickle is known to me as the mefite who says very kind and touching things about dogs, so I really kind of love that her legacy is now being expanded to include butt slop.

This has got to be the most anal thread on mefi.

Love the nails though.

butt slop (sfw)

I've walked past this sign almost daily for the last two years, and it still makes me snigger from time to time. I think this says bad things about my maturity level.

I think we've run across a MF meme/slogan/injoke that just might not make the tee shirt list.
(Yes I'd like mine yellow lettering on brown background) (no, for the love of god, no...Make it stop now)

I read that as butt slop too, but the endoscopy discharge photo made the thread for me.

I remember for the MeFi 10 anniversary meetup in LA Thin Lizzy made the coolest cupcakes with correctly-colored fondant frosting shaped like little +'s & !'s. They were awesome-post-flag-worthy and quite possibly my favorite. Oh look, there's a picture!

Lovely work, phunniemee! I would probably need about ten intermediate coats of Seche Vite to do anything even near as neat, and by then my nails would be as thick as pancakes.

It might all be worth it for a MetaTalk themed manicure, though. Maybe I could inscribe a tiny flouncy flameout on my thumbnails.

Someone on twitter suggested I mentally change all instances of "email" in a boring meeting to "butt" and I was endlessly amused by thinking about butt distribution lists, shared buttboxes, butt encryption, "never send sensitive information by butt," etc.

It's not properly painted on. I did all my letters with puffy paint nail pens on a piece of waxed paper and then stuck them on my nails. And it only took four coats of seche!

beanplate! would also fit on your nails.

How about "math owie," my (and I'm sure others') favorite mangled pronunciation? I'm also partial to HURF DURF, but that should really be saved for The Night of the Hunter-style tattoos.

[…] I mentally change all instances of "email" in a boring meeting to "butt" […]

I do this with "cloud." I substitute in the word "clown." So they I get to hear about "clown computing," storing data "in the clown," Apple's "iClown" service, and people talk about clown services and clown devices.

It makes the world more interesting. I am going to adopt the email/butts one now as well, since we just moved our butts to clown based butts.

This thread reminds me of the plan I had some years ago to knit myself a MeFi hoodie. Somehow it disappeared from my knitting to do list, but I'll put it back on now.

If you're really committed, you'll get a tattoo. I was going to say "of your user number" but fortunately I realized how horrifying that would sound.

Ha! I clicked on the "[more inside]" handwritten words in the photograph. As if that would result in more cupcakes.

"Butt"?

"Butt slol"?

What the hell is "butt sl-"

Then I lol'd.

What is the usefulness of intermediate coats of Seche Vite? I usually just let parts of a design dry for a minute before moving on and use the SV at the end. Makes it easier to do touch-ups and is less prone to tip shrinkage.

Another neat mefiversary thing:

At last night's Meetup for the park showing of 20 Feet to Stardom, an older gentleman with presumably his wife walked by and said hello to my partner and me in the friendly awkward way that someone who knows you but does not expect to see you in this context would say hello.

We said hi right back because we're civilized, but after he left racked our brains trying to figure out which doctor or former employer this man was until my partner realized it was Jim, our tour guide from last Saturday's tour of Chicago's moving bridges!

So no pressure or anything, Chicago, but some dude we don't even know has been to two Meetups this month already.
