Matt, the new server is fantastic and you've been burning through bugs at a remarkable rate. I know you've been working steadily for several days now. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say how much I appreciate all your work.

Why don't you unplug now and go have a nice dinner? None of the bugs I've seen posted today seem that serious, and I suspect lots of them pre-date the upgrade.

I can't say your comment is much fun either.
Appropiate name, corpse.

What timeistight said - 99.9% of things are working well and many of the bugs are probably only being spotted because people are looking for problems at the moment.

Others could do their part by not reporting minor bugs for the next few days to allow things to settle down and give the man a chance to catch his breath.

Great work, Matt - now go away and catch up with your life :-)

I think there is. Timeistight is voicing my concern as well. A lot of us users here (if not all) are spoilt rotten. The least hitch is reported as if it were a big thing. I never thought I'd say this but we are guests here; freeloading guests; we've got a brand new ultra-fast server which was up in no time; MetaFilter is full of great posts and yet there's not a small amount of benevolent abuse going on, as people know Matt always responds to bugs and features requests.

Let's give it a rest. I'll play my part and promise not to burden MetaTalk with the stuff I enjoy if y'all promise not to deface it with long lists of geeky complaints.

No mentioning Mozilla or Opera for a month, for instance! Or telling the world what pathetic little system you're working with and can it be accommodated. Or bitching about badly rendered umlauts. Or wondering whether Mac-users are worse off. Or suggesting new coding enterprises... ;)

While I completely agree with timeistight, corpse is correct. I've already been yelled at for giving Matt more work, and that's what this thread is doing as well. You meant well, timeistight, and I understand that you probably wanted to get the community to give Matt a well-deserved group hug, but MetaTalk is not the place for such an event. Send him a quality e-mail and I'm sure he'll appreciate your kind words.

Forget about it, all things in moderation are great.

I had a shitload of work to do today, and a bunch of bug reports came in. I was kind of pissy when working on one or two of them, but I eventually got the biggest ones solved, so I'm better now, thanks.

I just added next/back links to metatalk comment pages. I've been meaning to do that for eons and finally got around to it.

Criminy, Miguel, there are times you have an uncanny ability to be precisely, absolutely, perfectly dead wrong.

Advising people not to post bug reports -- when Matt is encouraging bug reports on the front-page sidebar -- is too freaking much, especially when you're also calling us all freeloaders on a server funded by user donations.

International news bulletin: There's a lot of non-freeloaders here -- the Amazon Honor System MetaFilter fund alone received 399 donations totaling more than $5,100.

You really have a gift. I don't know whether to bask in your reflected glory or join jbou on Plastic and hope you don't follow.

Is it too late to take it all back, rcade? You shame me. More fool me for talking off the top of my hat. I was really just hoping to alleviate the load on Matt. I should have spoken for myself. Thanks for putting me right. Oh and next time you make a well-intentioned mistake, expect no mercy! ;)

Nothing personal, Miguel. There are just times I feel like the passenger on Airplane! who doused himself with gasoline and lit a match to get away from Ted Striker.

Yeah, okay, my bad. I should have emailed Matt instead (which I just did). Carry on bitchin'.
