I know most folks paid to join MetaFilter to join the conversation on the blue, and I know plenty other folks paid to join just to Ask some questions (or give some answers). This here, though, is the first I've seen of someone joining the site strictly for the discussion in FanFare. Do you know of any earlier instances or did queenofbithynia just make a new entry into our record books?
I think it's kinda sad that queenofbithynia joined just as the show was ending... now we must all band together to

Are you certain that's not a longtime member who felt the need to create another account to share their views on Hannibal? I mean, they did seem to know we're a throng of uncaring strangers, so they clearly had insider information.

This is covered eloquently in the linked thread, but it should be mentioned that queenofbithynia jumped right in with some top-notch commenting right off the bat. Whether it was tossed off or well considered beforehand I don't know, but it was good.

This guy just joined for the now defunct AutoFilter (usedcars.metafilter.com) and I don't think he ever did find the link to it. Granted, the nav bar was kind of a mess back then.

Alas, no - Fanfare data isn’t included in the infodump as yet. I haven’t browed lately; you might be able to see how many users have made all (or the majority) of their comments on Fanfare. But that’s it - longitudinal analysis of comment times isn’t yet possible.

I *kind* of joined because of FF, which is strange, because it felt like most of the shows I'd watch have very little people interested (maybe it's because it was Summer TV), and have a limit on the number of sites I hit "post" before start losing interest in the older ones (and AV Club discussion was... well, a bunch of one-liners).

I just HAD TO TALK ABOUT HANNIBAL a little bit, is that really so strange? surely it has happened to others. I know a person or two out in the world who appreciate the show, but glibly and they don't love it well enough, they just sort of like it, which is worse than if they hate it. you know what I mean. plus I figured out how to illicitly access the show a couple days early from reading threads here, so I felt obligated to pay back a little bit.

How can people just like Hannibal and not love it? How? (Hatred and disgust would also be all right, I guess.) I'm glad you found FF, queenofbithynia.
I started watching Hannibal because of all the passionate discussion about it here (originally on the blue, pre-purple), so there is a good healthy circulation, you'll be pleased to hear.
