129: We're Blaming Everything On Pancakes June 4, 2017 2:32 PM   Subscribe

In this episode of the MetaFilter podcast, Jessamyn and I dig in on a May's-worth of MetaFilter, more or less, and also discuss the upsides and downsides of having pancakes for breakfast and whether me having done so ruined everything. This one runs about 85 minutes.

The talking about suicide Ask is linked to twice, in different spots. Don't know if it's for reasons.

I have been snort laughing over the Jack Kerouac reference for a solid two minutes now, Cortex.

Just curious -- is the Out of the Blue podcast more or less defunct? Last installment was way back in September 2015. Just another casualty of the ongoing political trainwreck, I guess?

This was a splendid listen to this morning, while waiting for the rain to clear and the cricket to resume.

It's definitely in deep hibernation, yeah. I haven't given up on it but it hasn't made any forward progress in a while (though there's been a couple false starts). And yeah, mix of the prevailing geopolitical conditions and all their fallout and some miscellaneous distracting and/or higher priority events and so on. I really would like to find the energy and the right circumstances to get back to it though.

Don't know if it's for reasons.

Whoops! Fixed. We end up pasting a link into Skype chat twice sometimes for, well, reasons, but I try to catch 'em and filter 'em out. Missed that one, good catch.

Thanks for mentioning my year-old candy video. There is a moment in it when I say "This is a candy for crazy people," and I regret that. I've been trying to weed that sort of thing out of my vocabulary. People with mental illness don't need to hear ablest language in a video about old candy, and I'm sorry for it.

Otherwise, there is a moment in the video where I just spit out my gum, and I was actually thinking about the Log Lady when I did it, so for people who thought I was making a Twin Peaks reference — yep.
