Thank to all who shared in posts,, asks and comments about their situation of domestic violence and domestic abuse. I recently was able to leave an abusive partner after 20 years, and, second only to therapy, reading what others experienced and went through has been the biggest help in this difficult time. Thank you! I would not have succeeded without you.

MF posts, asks, and comments helped me get out of an abusive relationship years ago as well, in addition to providing a (continuing) framework for processing after the fact. I too am enormously, ineffably grateful to the people who poured their experiences into text so we could benefit. Congratulations on freeing yourself--I'll never forget the sense of freedom (among, naturally, pretty much every other emotion ever invented and those not-yet-named) associated with finally leaving. YOU DID IT!!! 2020 is yours; I hope you bask in your strength as you orient yourself to better and brighter times.

Wow! You are badass. Every good wish to you on your journey to health and happiness in freedom.

I would also suggest: keep reading and Ask-ing on MeFi. This site didn't help me leave but it helped me deal with the after-pains of leaving. I'm still reduced to tears when I read some of the utterly kind and gentle responses I got for some of my early Asks on this site. They are still a spring of reassurance on hard days, which do get so much rarer as time passes.
