Reporting the absence of news? Isn't that what this thread's doing?

Plus, the searches linked in the FPP are unlikely to bear any fruit, given that they're hyper-specific (within quotation marks) and not grammatically correct unless you speak headline-ese.

since the post's been killed...I'll just quote Emily Litella here:

"Never mind."

wow, when did that "this post has been deleted" thing get added? that's fantastic.

rhyax, I added it a few weeks back.

Speaking of non-posts, the population one is pretty close to uninteresting and worthy of deletion, but I'll leave it up.

Vidiot, in the thread itself you ask how to link to a specific thread in MetaTalk akin to right-clicking on a timestamp. When you are looking at the front page of either MetaFilter or MetaTalk simply right-click on the total number of comments displayed for the thread and copy the link address from there. Or simply click into the thread using the total number of comments link and then copy the address from your address bar.

thanks, MUD. You know, I would've thought of that. Eventually.

I was thinking of a way to go to a specific comment in a thread, though...like with the anchor function built into the MeFi timestamps.

d'oh! never mind. I just realized that the MeTa timestamps are linked just like the MeFi ones. (Just not the first (FPP-esque) ones. I'll shut up now.

(Memo to self: Don't post questions/feature requests a.) while at work and somewhat distracted; or b.) after I've gotten home and had a really filling Italian dinner and most of a bottle of wine.)

Same as in MetaFilter: right-click on the date stamp in the "posted by" line. Your comment above, for example, is http://metatalk.metafilter.com/mefi/2893#58313

And, on preview, "never mind" (nice symmetry here, don't you think?)

Can we get Matt to delete MeTa threads too?

nope. in thirty years time the secret cabal of white christian oil and drug barons behind the gop will be considering you for presidential candidate. just as they're about to approve billions in covert funding for your impossible-to-fail campaign, someone will stumble, gasping for breath, having sprinted up the stairs from the bunker housing the information-awareness and analysis processing group, into the secret chamber where the wise men (only) are deliberating, waving a printed copy of this page: "but he didn't spot the meta date links!". the room falls into stunned silence....
