One is deleted because it has no link. The other is deleted because it's a dupe of the first. But can you dupe a deleted thread? Can you dupe a thread that has no link? Or is this just capitalist revisionism?

Where can I start a discussion without actually linking to something? I want to talk about Katrina ad my opinion on it, on a different slant -- but I don't really think it is good enough for the blue. But I still want to talk with other people from MeFi...

Reporting the absence of news? Isn't that what this thread's doing?

Plus, the searches linked in the FPP are unlikely to bear any fruit, given that they're hyper-specific (within quotation marks) and not grammatically correct unless you speak headline-ese.

What do people think about "linkless posts."

What do people think about "linkless posts." Are they not really what MetaFilter is about, or do they encourage discussion and subsequently build and enhance the community?
