How does Metafilter's logon work across the sites? January 15, 2003 3:39 AM   Subscribe

When I log into the site, I am not shown as logged in on the front page (therefore unable to post), even though I am shown as logged in here at Metatalk. Is this systemwide or does my computer just hate me?

Never mind. Evidently the act of posting here corrected it-or the gremlins that run this site got back from their coffee break.

I spoke too soon. It's doing it again...

Okay, evidently it is the act of posting here that makes the front page accessible. When I came back from surfing elsewhere I was still logged in in Metatalk but not on the front page-even when I went thru the login process again. For some wild reason as soon as I post here in MeTa, the problem resolves itself.

The particular gremlin that runs this site hasn't said anything around here since 9:07 (his time) on Monday morning, which leads me to believe that the bugs and quirks (not to mention the bad threads) may continue for a while longer.

Yes

I have found that all I have to do to make the front page admit I am signed in is to simply hit preview (in lieu of posting) and then hit the MeFi link at the bottom of the page here. Odd, but it works.
