The BlogRoots sidebar (over there -->) has become enormously long thanks to an entry with very wide margins.

That's because it's using a blockquote. Of greater interest to me is why the blockquote appears to have "broken" the paragraph it sits in, such that the text underneath the blockquote (but still in that paragraph) is in (I assume) Times New Roman of the incorrect size.

By the way, the blockquote is fine in it's original context: it just looks crap in a thin sidebar. The CSS could/should be tweaked to change the margins and text size for blockquotes, probably, in case this happens again.

I'd suggest:

.sidebar blockquote {font-size:11px;font-family:verdana;
margin-bottom:10px;
margin-top:0px;
margin-left:12px;
margin-right:4px;}

or

#menu blockquote {font-size:11px;font-family:verdana;
margin-bottom:10px;
margin-top:0px;
margin-left:12px;
margin-right:4px;}
